Many salons have transitioned to app-based booking, often times requiring clients to agree to strict policies about being on time or paying late fees, etc. Yet, the same standard doesn’t seem to apply to the service providers, and that was exactly my experience here. I booked an appointment one day in advance thru their app, but respectfully made sure I also reached out to my specific service provider on IG to confirm since I saw 7 AM, 8 AM, and 9 AM slots available. The specific stylist confirmed she could take me at 9 AM that next morning, we both agreed on that time. I arrived on time, waited 10 minutes with no communication, after messaging and calling through IG with no response, I left. Being a brand new client, I didn't know if she would show up or not. She finally replied 20 minutes later—long after I was gone. It’s frustrating that clients are expected to respect the booking process, yet the same courtesy isn’t extended in return. Old fashioned communication STILL works ladies. Let the other party know if you are going to be running late, that's respectable. As a busy mom and business owner, my time is just as valuable, and I won’t be booking here again. Too bad was looking forward to a great experience. I found my new stylist after a long 11 years!! Shonda gave me a 5 star studded, A+ experience! As soon as I sat in her chair I knew my hair was going to be in the best hands! My hair needed a lot of love. Shonda took her time to learn my hair routine, gave my hair the TLC it needed, and provided recommendations to get my hair back in its healthiest state. I feel like a brand new woman and I’m truly grateful to have found her!

LaShonda is amazing! She is very knowledgeable about hair care and hair health. She made me feel very comfortable and like I was the only customer there at that time. She is passionate about natural hair care and more, so make sure you go and check her out! She is providing a professional hair service and giving an excellent experience along with that! 10/10 for sure! Would highly recommend LaShonda and Uptown Salon and Spa!!!

Overall this was an okay experience. The service was very quick, probably less than 45 minutes. I had asked for curls and although they were cute they didn’t look like the picture. During the service my scalp was burned more than 4 times. It was so bad I had to massage my scalp after the service. After a couple days the burns became visible, mostly around my hairline. That has never happened to me before lol. Shonda is beautiful and amazing, but for $85 I would not come here again. Hopefully my review game you some guidance, be blessed 💕

Great experience at Uptown Salon. Tammy was great! She was very professional and courteous.The owner, LaShonda, took the time to introduce herself and thanked me for do business with her establishment. I’m totally impressed with their services. I appreciate and highly recommend them.
