Twisted Scissors

It had been years since I got my hair cut at twisted scissors. I used to go to their old Logan Square location but recently moved right by their Avondale salon. I hadn’t had a haircut in months so I had a fresh canvas to work with. The first photo is the haircut I asked for. The others are what I received. I should have said something before leaving last night, but I get anxious critiquing people in person. After I got home and looked closer I noticed just how uneven and choppy this hair cut was in all places- the top/front, the one side with two distinct choppy ridges and the back. I called today to see if I could come in to try to salvage what’s left of my hair and they did offer for me to come in for an "adjustment." Ultimately I declined since it was going to be with the same stylist. It’s hard to trust them to be able to fix this when they messed it up in so many ways. I’m still giving two stars because everyone there is so nice and it’s a cool place. For $70 I hoped for a lot better. Hell, I wouldn’t have let them do this to me again if they offered to pay me $70 to walk around with a haircut like this.

Selena is the best!! I've been going to her for about 6 years now and not only are her haircuts the best, but when she does pinks and purples on my hair, they always fade beautifully back into blonde until the next time I go. She also always listens to what I want and even comes up with color examples for me. I've never felt as listened to by a hair stylist as I have with her.

I’ve been going to Selena for a few years now, and I fully trust her with my hair. She’s incredibly skilled, genuinely kind, and consistently excellent at what she does. We’ve done everything from balayage to simple cuts, and most recently she transformed my accidental green hair into the most gorgeous shade of pink. I’ll trust my hair with Selena for as long as she’ll have me. 🙂

Got my hair done by Payton after seeing how amazing they had done with someone else’s hair and they nailedddddd it!!!! The consultation beforehand was so thorough so I knew exactly what I was getting and they were so easy to talk to. They checked in frequently to ensure I was comfortable and was chill with how the process was going. The salon staff as a whole was so welcoming and energetic. Brought back my signature bob 💅 couldn’t have asked for more

I love Twisted Scissors! I have been coming here for years to have Jynine cut my hair, and she is the best at what she does. I love every haircut I’ve gotten from her 🙂 also everyone that works there is so cool and kind, it makes the customer experience even better.

I was hesitant to post my review as I really didn’t want to negatively impact the business but I wanted to share my experience. I had researched places good for layered cuts and Twisted Scissors was recommended so I had a lot of trust and expectations for this place. I showed my stylist Roz a reference photo of exactly what I wanted and maybe it was miscommunication but my bangs were cut much much shorter than I had asked for. My bangs were the first thing that were cut and before making the first cut, they did not check in with me on the length and had just cut immediately. I knew from the first cut it was much shorter than I wanted. I went into the hair cut with a lot of trust and excitement and came out very disappointed and saddened. When I look at my hair I can’t help but think how different it is from what I showed and what I communicated I wanted. The cut is very much not my style and unflattering on me. It feels upsetting to have paid $70+ for something that has shot my confidence.
