After relocating from Southern California to the Charleston area at the beginning of the year, I needed to find a new salon. I decided to give Moxie Park Salon a try, and I couldn't be happier! Alyssa has been my stylist from my first appointment, and she has been fantastic. She keeps my color looking great each month, but where she really shines is the exceptional work she has done with my extensions. We put in some new extensions after my first appointment - and the difference was night and day from what we replaced. The color match has been perfect, the extensions are always well placed, and they are very comfortable. I frequently get compliments on my hair and how natural it looks. It is obvious Alyssa is a pro with extensions - she installs them with confidence and efficiency - so an overall great experience. If you are looking for an exceptional stylist, I highly recommend Alyssa!

I see Rosalie here and I love it! She is incredible with decoding what you want and then explaining it back to you to confirm. My highlights always look perfect. I don’t get extensions but if I did, I wouldn’t trust anyone else. She is a master of extensions! The salon is beautiful and spacious with good music and easy parking. When I’m in the chair, I look around and everyone’s hair looks amazing, so you probably couldn’t go wrong with any stylist here! Prices are normal for the services I get too. Highly recommend!!!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt disappointed after my appointment this week and wanted to share my experience. This was my third visit, and I’ve always seen Kimberly in the past—she’s wonderful! And so good at what she does. Since she was unavailable and I wanted to get in before the holidays, I booked with another stylist whose bio I really liked on the salon’s website. I have had great experiences previously and have friends who love this salon. Unfortunately, the appointment didn’t feel like what I paid for. I booked the Level 2 color service, which includes a blowout too and is listed as up to 2–3 hour appointment. I was in and out the door in about an hour and ten minutes. It felt rushed, and instead of feeling like a valued client, I felt like I was being pushed through the process. My stylist was working on another client at the same time, which I understand can be normal, but I didn’t feel she was present for my service. Her assistant—who was very kind—checked my foils too, washed my hair, and even blow-dried it. I know a lot of salons have assistants wash hair which is fine with me, but I never saw my stylist again until I was checking out, so I didn’t get the chance to ask the questions I had about my hair health, what shampoo to buy, if there were any changes needed, or get the blow-out/styling that was part of the service I booked. That is why I am disappointed. The assistant asked if I wanted a blowout after she had already blow dried my hair straight, so it didn’t do anything. I ended up just putting my hair in a pony tail when I left. I’m sure the salon would have tried to make things right if I had spoken up in the moment, but at the time I didn’t say anything. The more I think about it, though, the more frustrating it feels to spend that much money and walk away not feeling valued or prioritized. I understand it can be a busy season in the salon, but I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time that my stylist wouldn’t be the one doing my hair from start to finish if I’m paying $300. Maybe it was because I wasn’t her normal clientele and she thought it would be fine for someone else to do it. By the time I reached the checkout desk, it felt too late to bring everything up, and the interaction came across as more transactional than personal. My stylist only saw the finished result at checkout and asked, "It’s not too dark, is it?". She never came to see how it turned out as the assistant was blow drying my hair. My hair turned out okay, a little bit darker than expected, but it was still fine. But there wasn’t much I could have done since she hadn’t been present throughout the service. My stylist was kind, I just didn’t feel valued. It’s disappointing to wait weeks for an appointment and pay $300, because you expect the full experience, the time, and attention that comes with that price. I ended up cancelling my next appointment, I just feel disappointed. If you’re booking here, I would just ask for clarification on the process to make sure you’re getting what you paid for.

If it wasn’t for my terrible haircut this place and everyone who works there is very nice. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized my hairdresser thinned so much of my hair away that my ends became see through. I have naturally thick hair and was in tears realizing how much she razored off, she didn’t mention anything about thinning my hair out or else I would have asked her not too because it looks so thin and I will have to chop it and pray that it grows and fills back in. Don’t recommend unless you have fake or already damaged hair. In the pictures you can tell how much she thinned my bottom layers compared to my top and it was on the pricier side

Danielle is wonderful! She has been coloring my hair for years. Always listens and executes what I want perfectly. Gives me honest feedback about how to achieve the results I want. Very comfortable salon with easy/ accessible parking.

I have never left a bad review about anything in my life, but I literally had to say something about this. I just want to start off of by saying, the girl who did my hair was the absolute sweetest. So kind and was constantly asking me if I needed anything. The problem happened in the last 20 minutes or so. I went in for a Keratin treatment. I have gotten Brazilian Blowouts about every 6 months for the past 10 years, and I just wanted to try something different. I just moved to Charleston in February and have naturally curly hair, so I’ve been adjusting to the humidity and frizzy hair. A Keratin treatment is supposed to be very nourishing for your hair and make your hair silky and healthy. I have never left a salon looking and feeling uglier in my life. I don’t know if my stylist just did not know how to straighten hair, or if she was in a rush to leave since I was her last appointment. She completely did not straighten my roots (the treatment is heat activated) and left my hair looking dry, crunchy and frizzy. This felt like a very rushed job, and for $420 I’m not happy with it. I should not have to go home and finish straightening my hair after spending $420 ($350 + 20% tip). By the way you can’t wash or style your hair for at least day after getting this, so I guess I was expected to walk around like this? I’m really sad about this because all of my friends go here and recommended it to me, but I will not be back after this experience. For reference: the first 4 photos are me directly after leaving the salon, the 5th photo is a comparison of me straightening it vs. how I left, and the last photo is how I looked after I went back and fixed her work.

Alyssa has been so sweet when it comes to my children’s hair appointments. The cut and vivid colors have always turned out good. My children felt spoiled when they got their hair done and could drink and eat a snack Alyssa has offered while doing so. Alyssa has been so thoughtful to even offer me something to drink while I wait. The hospitality, customer service, and expertise in knowing what my kids would like their hair to look like, treating them like everyone else, and following through with styles has been fantastic!
