I do not recommend you go here if you have naturally curly hair!! TL,DR: I paid $400 for a simple blonde streak, my hairstylist had no clue how to style my hair, and when I spoke to the manager about how unhappy I was she didn't offer any solutions. I honestly left feeling scammed. I booked my appointment over the phone and explained that I wanted blonde streaks all throughout my hair (like the trendy y2k style I guess) as well as a trim. I was given a price quote of around $200-300 dollars which I felt was fair for the amount of bleach and time that would be used. The moment I met the stylist he asked me if my hair had ever been dyed in the past. Something they could've asked over the phone when I booked. I said yes and he immediately told me that because of this, the dye job wouldn't come out right and we couldn't do my desired style. So I had to pick a different style to do. Wish there was any kind of consultation process over the phone or email before the actual appointment. At that point I wanted to leave but I already traveled over an hour to get there so I felt like I should at least get something. I chose a much simpler style, just one blond streak. I was actually really happy with the dye job itself, it looked just like the photo, however the styling of my hair was really bad. I told him he could style my hair curly if he wanted to since it's naturally curly but he insisted on blowing it out. Him and a trainee stylist blow dried my hair very quickly and sent me on my way. He put absolutely no product in my hair and took no time to style it properly. I left the salon with super frizzy, damaged looking hair. I don't think he knew how to properly style naturally curly hair 🙁 At checkout, I realized I was being charged the same exact amount I was quoted for when I wanted the blond streaks all throughout my hair which was a much more complex design. How is it that one blonde streak is the same price as a full head of blonde streaks? 😭 Makes no sense. Including tip I ended up paying $400 for a blonde streak, trim, and really bad blowout. On top of that, the stylist who did my hair was the one who checked me out and was watching me as I entered the tip amount so I felt extremely pressured. I talked to the manager while again, my stylist was standing right next to me (idk why the manager didn't pull me aside or the stylist didn't give us some privacy like come on 💀) and she offered no kind of solution, I would've appreciated a follow-up appointment to properly style it or at least some sort of discount. But nothing. This happened like half a year ago I've just been debating on whether or not to leave a review. Attached are 2 photos right before I left the salon, and 1 photo after styling it myself at home the next day with some simple hair products and a flat iron. I have no hair experience and somehow made it look better than trained professionals 🙁
Ive been to Shizen many times over the last 10+ years, and my experiences have always been mixed My most recent experience was so bad it scared me away for good. Their instagram is full of cute styles, and all the clients in there came out looking great But for some reason my stylist gave me the worst haircut followed by the worst styling I’ve ever experienced. I wanted a sleek long layered cut with movement and wispy ends. I referenced a couple photos on their page. I have a lot of textured hair, which needs to be dried with a brush to achieve a smooth texture - I expected someone with 20 years of experience to know this? I left with frizzy crispy hair, that was still damp underneath and a cut that was blunt on the ends. Very bizarre. I left feeling really bummed Oh well. Later Shizen ✌️ good luck with those raccoon striped mullets
ive gotten my hair cut here twice and had similar experiences both times— my stylist was very nice but didn’t ask any questions during our very brief consultation. my hair cut ended up being fine but definitely not what i had in mind, but once the hair is gone you can’t put it back! she also was triple booked both times i went— she was going back and forth between at least three clients at a time so i spent a lot of time waiting for her to come back. the actual hair cut only took about 10 minutes but i spent over an hour in the chair waiting. she seemed like she was really rushed so when i quickly looked at my haircut when she was done i didnt notice any issues, but once i got home i found lots of uneven areas and big chunks of hair that were missed around my bangs. i emailed them about the issue but got no response. for 130$ i would want someone to be thorough and ask more questions! the employee who washed and dried my hair was super nice and did a great job— i actually spent way more time with her then with my stylist.
Love going here to get my hair done! Ayumu is incredible and knows exactly what I want.
Wow. Would give my haircut a 0. My hairstylist was extremely reckless, barely listened to what I wanted and rushed my entire appointment! I’m a model and I emphasized how my career depends on my hair. She didn’t even bother to give me a proper blowout after she completely ruined my hair. When I reached out nobody was helpful. She took no accountability and said IM requested choppy layers. Like be serious….. Beyond dissatisfied. I almost feel disrespected.
I have been here before and it was a fine experience. The price does not justify the service. On my visit today they had me sitting for 30 mins waiting to get shampoo. I had to go to reception to inform them that and then they tried to wash my hair without a robe. I waited for two weeks for this appointment very disappointing will not be going back. Recommend going somewhere else.
I've been looking for an Asian hairstylist for a very long time and I finally found one!! Anjy quickly understood what i wanted and i love how my hair now looks! Thank you Anjy see you again soon😄
