Level 1 Beauty Lounge

This review is for Antoinette, with whom I made an appointment on IG (#inantoinetteschair) to get a versatile weave. She works out of this establishment. I have been following her for a while and was really looking forward to having a pleasant experience. It wasn’t that. 🫤 Note that the following review is less about the quality of her work and mainly about her customer service. My appointment was for 11:30 AM and she called to provide a "courtesy"call around 10:30 AM that she was running behind schedule, delayed by 45 - 60 min. I was already in commute when she called and was coming from uptown Manhattan by train, so it was too late to turn around. I understood that things happen sometimes that may be out of one’s control, so I accepted the delay. 45-60 mins turned into 2 hours, no exaggeration. Antoinette didn’t check in to update me or offer any sign of concern as I sat and waited. 1hr 30 min in, I thought since I had invested the time and travel and also did not want to stress about finding another stylist, let me wait a few more minutes and be positive. When she called me into her chair, she did not apologize for the 2 hrs that she had me sitting there. She went straight to doing my hair and asking basic transactional questions. In an attempt to be inviting, I asked her, "Hey, how are you doing today?" She simply replied, "I’m fine," and again showed no remorse or care for how long I had been waiting. I said a prayer to myself asking God to bless her hands and the sew in process because the last thing I needed was for bad energy to be put into my hair. She spoke no words to me throughout the entire time, and oddly huffed and puffed, and said, "Oh God,"numerous times as if something or someone was doing her a disservice. While my hair came out nice and her package is rather decent, her disposition was terrible; super off-putting. I’m sure she has plenty of clientele to not miss my money but still it was important for me to share my experience and that it led me to not want to return. What she advertises as a quick process was certainly not given today. Truly disappointing customer service. Disappointed in self for forgetting about my already paid deposit and tipping more than I would have liked.

Terry is masterful and what he does especially hair cuts. My main issue is the long wait times and lack of ability to schedule appointments. I'm not one to spend half a day in a hair salon. If time is not and issue, I would recommendation

I have been going to Terry for 10+ years. His ability to look at a picture and cut your hair into the same style is in a class by itself. If you're ever shopping for a beautician that has cut and color skills that surpass most, you should definitely give him a try.

Very welcoming environment. Professional and friendly staff. I feel confident to recommend anyone who wants great service to go here and get your hair done. I believe that all of my visits to this specific place is always something great. My hair is always done the way I imagined. Just ask for Terry.

I get a wash and flatiron and Everytime My hair is silky and moisturize especially when using that coconut conditioner... and don’t forget that massage when your washing your hair .. AMAZINGLY RELAXING

It was very good. Loved the head massage and Terry was amazing as he styled and trimmed my hair.
