Wonderfully calm, and pleasant atmosphere. The owner is very professional and makes sure her clientele are treated with the utmost respect. They care for natural hair with great concern, and do not pull any punches. Sometimes the clientele envisions themselves in hairstyles damaging to their naturally coiffed hair. She does not bite her tongue when it comes to professionally and courageously telling her clients of the consequences to certain things others are doing to their hair, or want her to do to their hair, that may be harmful to the naturalness of their hair, or damaging to their scalp. I appreciate that... And I respect that. I'd rather have someone tell me the truth, rather than hold their tongue just to make money at my expense. Nubian Hair Studio is not about making monies at the expense of hurting others. I have been one of their clients for almost 3 yrs, and never had a complaint. If I have a hairstyle I like and they aren't familiar with it, I simply show them a YouTube video of said style and they attempt to duplicate said style... And I have as of yet to walk out dissatisfied. I went on vacation September 8-15, 2018, and got in the water with Gypsy Goddess locs, and afterwards... my hair was perfect. As you can see from the photos...I put nothing on my hair and this protective style lasted up to this very day.. and today to October 8, 2018

The service was great! I felt really comfortable getting my hair washed. The stylist was a great conversationalist. My only issue was the price change, I asked how much a wash and just a blow out ( no silk press) would be on the phone and was told $67 then got there and it was $88. Besides that the experience was great. If you want the basics I would advise to go somewhere a bit cheaper but if your getting an actual silk press I would advice to book since they are natural hair focused and won’t give you heat damage.

My mom and I had such a wonderful experience at the Nubian Hair Studio! We started off with a consultation with Key and told her what type of style we were each looking to do. She was thorough and made sure we understood what the process involved. Key worked on both of us. My mom decided to do a new color and cut to a shorter style. I decided to get crocheted passion twist. Everyone was so friendly and very professional and the owner Alice made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend this place and if I could go beyond five stars I would! They work on all hair types especially natural, and they are skilled in different types of hair styles. Make sure you call ahead to make an appointment because they are in demand but they will try their best to work with you.

I love this place! Great customer service, friendly, clean, love the overall exceptional experience. All of the employees have a wonderful spirit. Worth every penny. Big ups to the owner! This is my second time at Nubian Hair Studio with Key as my hairstylist. I relax in Key’s chair, because I can feel confident that she is knowledgeable about her craft, cares about my well-being and feelings about the style, and genuinely cares about my hair—and my life. Also, the salon has a welcoming ambiance: from the music, to discussions, to moments of quiet, I always feel good while I’m there and leave feeling satisfied. I haven't had my hair done in literally 7 years because I was afraid of the pain and also returning back to baby locs when getting a retwist. No only is the website to book a appointment and pricing is professional, clear and easy to digest. When I arrived I felt like I can trust the lady working their with my hair. Not only did I leave, satisfied with my hair. but it was fixed, and my head wasn't in pain at all. By far the best experience I gotten when it comes to my hair. I'm a 4c type hair I am extremely grateful!!!! Can't wait to return again for a check-up

This salon is simply amazing! I've sworn off of salons for years. My last salon visit was at a Dominican place in Harlem, where they barely understood English and were determined to get my afro textured hair as bone straight as possible. The aftermath of the excessive heat they used left me with severe split ends and almost heat damaged hair! I chopped off 2 inches smh Thanks to a very good friend of mine who kept pushing for me to go to Nubian Hair Studio! She kept insisting I go to get my hair treated to get it healthy again. I went last week and I was impressed. They greeted me warmly and were very nice, as well as professional. I appreciated the fact that they explained to me why they were using certain products on my hair. They even asked if I had any issues with my hair/scalp and offered me some tips on how to fix them. I got my hair washed, deep conditioned, blown out and trimmed. When she finished blowing it out I was shocked because I had no idea I had that much hair AND she was very meticulous about using heat protectant!! Overall, I'm happy I caved in and went to them. I think I just may be hooked! I highly recommend them!
