Maruichi Select

This amazing store is my holy grail and I am so glad they opened a location right in the heart of downtown Stamford. It's a Japanese specialty store that's your one stop destination for everything including a grocery store, cafe and dessert bar, dine-in restaurant, and ready to grab take out. You can even purchase silverware and tableware, and other various hard to find items! And since they have expanded with indoor and outdoor seating, you can enjoy your snack or meal right in the store. Convenient location and flexible options means you can literally come here everyday and not get bored and even get inspired to try new things!

I was so excited to check this new location out after shopping at Maruichi Cafe so many times before. This place is definitely more spacious than Maruichi Cafe but somehow I feel that it has fewer selections in terms of groceries. Maybe it’s just me. Somehow I couldn’t find what I normally got from Maruichi Cafe such as lotus roots. But overall it still has a wide variety of Japanese/Asian snacks. They have a different section with a lot of Japanese tea pots and porcelains which are very nice. Definitely recommend a visit.

The people are really nice. I love the pre-made food. They have a great selection of drinks, bread, and sushi. I like that they give out samples throughout the day. It’s always so good.

Good place. The food is good and the prices are fair. After 8pm they had a 50% off on all sushi, bento boxes, and onigiri. Liked the asian snacks as well.

The BEST and the ONLY Japanese food I eat in Stamford, I am a native Japanese born and lived 30+ years in Tokyo. This supermarket has been making my life a lot better with a good selection of Japanese snacks and groceries, but since they started to serve freshly made meals, it’s a game changer! Udon (noodle) quality is hard to believe! Gyudon is too good to pass. I love Onigiri (rice balls) and tea/Matcha here as well.

Loved my white peach matcha tea. Such a great selection of authentic Japanese foods and snacks. There's also a great area in the back where you can sit and eat. Will definitely be back!

I love this place! It really brings me back to the convenience stores in Japan. They have the most Japanese grocery staples that I've ever seen in CT for great prices, along with other Japanese products you can't find anywhere else. They also have fresh produce like vegetables, Asian fruits (I saw Korean pear and persimmons), and even fresh sashimi (ready to cut and serve, I had some and it was delicious!). They also have Japanese kitchen utensils, and matcha whisks. There are bento boxes, ready to heat and eat ramen, onigiri, sushi, and even Japanese style egg sandwiches, potato salad sandwiches, fruit sando, and other yummy looking sandwiches. There is even a seating area with a microwave to heat up your ramen/bento box. On top of all of this, Anna's donuts serves unique donuts and matcha drinks. I had their coffee which apparently the beans are from Osaka, and it was delicious! If you can't tell, I am absolutely amazed with this place.
