Friendly and helpful staff that took the time to explain the menu in detail. Food is delicious and super authentic. It does take a little bit of time to get your food if you are dining in. However, this is due to everything being made fresh and from scratch! It is well worth the wait. I only mention this to make it clear that this is not fast food. Probably one of the best Indian restaurants around and definitely a new favorite. Not to mention while you’re waiting for your order they have a beautiful store to browse through with tons of different items to explore.
I've traveled extensively in India and all I can say is: WOW! Best Indian food I've had in a LONG time! Samosa chaat, on point. Chicken Tikka Masala, buttery soft chicken with incredible gravy. Butter paneer, delightful! The butter naan was incredible and gulab jamin made it complete. Even the gulab jamin had pistachio and saffron in the center! We ate it all so fast there are no photos. They don't cut corners. It's authentic. It feels like little India inside, and if that doesn't make you smile...you might need to loosen up a little. 😂
I've been shopping at Royal Indian Grocery for the past six months, and I've watched them expand their selection of Indian spices and grocery items impressively. Almost anything I can think of is now available, making it a go-to spot for my cooking needs. Recently, they opened a kitchen for dine-in and takeout, and I couldn’t be happier. I've tried several dishes, and none have disappointed. The ability to adjust spice levels on request is a fantastic touch, catering to all palates. The standout dish is definitely the goat curry. It's clear that the chef pours not just skill but also passion into this dish. The flavors are rich and authentic, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. I highly recommend Royal Indian Grocery and Restaurant to everyone—whether you're looking for quality ingredients or a delightful meal. You won’t be disappointed!
My favorite local Indian food spot. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. The samosa chaat... YUM, highly recommend getting this as an app to share. Customer service is top notch and just all around cool vibes. Have a look around the grocery area for some new spices and treats.
We went there today and had a great experience. It’s a no frills Indian grocery, but it has a very good selection of indian foods and snacks. We had lunch and it was delicious. Lots of items on the menu at affordable prices. The staff were very pleasant and responsive. We will be going there again.
If you're in the area near Notre Dame's football stadium or better yet tailgating and crave authentic Indian cuisine, Royal Indian Grocery is a must-visit. Though it’s primarily known as a grocery store, they've recently added a kitchen to serve freshly prepared Indian dishes. Given the overwhelming demand, they’ve opened this new kitchen before it's fully equipped, so expect a few growing pains. The food at Royal Indian Grocery is a genuine taste of India. It's clear that everything is made from scratch, so don’t expect fast food speed. The experience feels like dining in an Indian family’s home, with dishes reminiscent of grandma’s cooking. The setup is currently basic, with makeshift seating and some equipment still on the way, but this adds to the authentic, homey vibe. One standout feature is the large television displays that showcase their menu with enticing photos and descriptions, making ordering an exciting visual experience. However, as this is not a traditional fast food establishment, the service will be more relaxed, akin to sitting down in someone’s home and discussing your meal preferences. Overall, despite the temporary inconveniences, the exceptional quality of the food makes it well worth a visit. Royal Indian Grocery provides a unique and delicious dive into Indian cuisine, promising an authentic culinary adventure. What really sets this place apart is the experience and passion of the cook, who has spent four years mastering the art of Indian cuisine in India itself. This dedication to traditional cooking really comes through in every bite. One of the first dishes I tried was the Chana Bhatura, a popular breakfast dish in India. The bhatura (fried bread) was fluffy, light, and paired perfectly with the chana (spiced chickpeas). The tangy pickled carrots added a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the dish, making it the perfect start to the day. It’s no wonder this is a staple breakfast meal back in India! Next up, I had the Palak Paneer, which is a creamy spinach-based curry with soft, homemade paneer (Indian cheese). The balance of spices in the palak (spinach) was just right, not overpowering the paneer but complementing it beautifully. Paired with the fresh, aromatic garlic naan, this was a hearty and satisfying meal. To wash it all down, I had their Mango Lassi, a refreshing and slightly sweet yogurt-based drink that added a perfect finish to the meal. The cook’s expertise shines through in every dish, making this a go-to spot not only for groceries but also for a homemade meal that feels authentic and comforting. I’m looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine.
They have a nice restaurant with home made food at value prices. Their non veg thali and tandoori were excellent. It takes about 30 min though.
