I used to shop here many years ago with my mother. We use to spend alot of time in this store. I decided to stop in the other day because I was looking for something they don't carry at the grocery store. The minute I walked in I was hit by this off- putting smell which I believe was fish. Needless to say, I didn't stay in the store but a few minutes. I don't ever remember this store smelling bad. I did by some vegetables that looked very fresh and a few other items. But the smell made me leave fairly quickly.
I would only buy dry good or cans but when I saw the meat section I was horrified🤯 as you can see pictures below
Fish cleaners are gruff and rude. The manager has poor customer service, acting like she is still a hawker in the third world country street market. Showing her the photo of a rotten young coconut I bought from yesterday, she demanded I return the item. For what I don't know, I already tossed it in the trash. I was charged $5.00 more for the packed fish I bought with a labeled pre calculated weight and equivalent price tag for the frying. I had a previous bad deal on fried fish. I paid for six tilapia but when I picked it up, there were only 5. Please count the slices, and if the fish are small and numerous, count them. Check the frozen goods for the expiration date. Some of the items are as old as your senior dogs.
I get fried fresh fish here, I think people missing out because it's not a American store. They have Seafood, oxtails, whole crabs, pots and soup bowls I love it.
i just bought 2 pork meatloafs, both were extremely slimy upon opening them, smelled funky and appeared to be old. the market has a foul odor in some areas, i’ve been shopping here for years and have never smelled that odor before. the store has a lot of history, but it’s been looking very run down recently to the point where it looks unkept. unfortunately this is the closest Vietnamese market in the area so i’ll still be shopping here, i just won’t be buying anything that i can’t see through the packaging anymore.
This supermarket is truly deplorable! Not only is the environment cramped and crowded, but there's also a foul odor, making for a truly terrible shopping experience. The worst part is, I clearly bought 25 pounds of rice, but they insisted on charging me 50 pounds, completely overcharging me. This kind of service and management is extremely disappointing, and I strongly recommend you reconsider your purchase.
Hoa Binh Supermarket in Pomona is a convenient spot for getting a wide variety of Asian groceries all in one place. The store offers fresh produce, seafood, meats, and many imported products that can be hard to find elsewhere. Prices are reasonable, and the selection includes items from Vietnam, Thailand, China, and the Philippines, making it great for anyone who loves to cook Asian dishes at home. The aisles can get a bit busy, but overall, it’s a solid neighborhood market for authentic ingredients and everyday essentials.
