99 Asian Supermarket

A very comprehensive variety of Asian foods and spices. It doesn't get 5stars because the check-out process is an exercise in both patience and sometimes frustration. It is slow and unificient like it must have been in the 80s: 2 cashiers open plus one for cash only, which is always empty. Also restrictions on credit card use which are not fixed and come as a surprise.

everything i needed was easy to find. they have a wide selection of everything. theres a bonus Vietnamese shop with great food and drinks. no need to drive all the way to Dorchester for bahn mi. one sister runs the one in Dorchester and the other runs one inside 99.

Usually the weekend before Lunar New Year , I like to make a trip to a big Asian store . This year I decided to go to 99 Asian Supermarket. I was pleased with the varieties that they carry. My favorite areas are the produce, seafood,refrigerated packaged noodles and the meat areas. Those of you who want to make crispy pork , the prices of pork belly per lb is less here than at Costco. I sometimes don’t like the huge quantities at warehouses. They had fresh flounder (wow) so one can make the ginger/ green onions steamed fish. They also carry my favorite noodle brands such as Twin Marquis and Ho Toy . So many types of noodles so little time . One can use to create many great meals at home. I usually buy couple of bag and freeze and defrost as needed. Prices range from wow to fair. Not bad at all. A plus is that they have a food court and my favorite Banh mi place is here; Banh mi Ba Le. I have gone to the original location in Dorchester and have gone to the Quincy one ( located in an another supermarket ) and just found out this location. Coming from Maine, going to Malden is a shorter trek . Will definitely come back to this supermarket. My favorite find today was pieces of salmon belly that one can grill, pan fry, or include in a chowder mix. Talk about plenty of omega 3. Definitively a good place to shop.

Great supermarket with a wide selection of products. Fresh vegetables, noodles, sauces, snacks, and hard-to-find ingredients all in one place. Prices are reasonable, the store is clean, and the staff is helpful. Highly recommended if you love Asian cuisine.

This was my 1st time actually going into the 99 market. My son took me, and I absolutely love it. You can find absolutely anything g and everything you may need to indulge your Asian pallet as well as international foods. Their fresh meat and seafood area are unbelievable. Their prices are great. Just be aware that there is no way you're coming out spending under a hundred. Above yes, but under never, and I'm here for it. It is cold inside because of their refrigerated sections that run all through the back wall of the store and wrap around to the fresh seafood area. They also have a small food court with 3 food vendors.

It's only not one star because of Ba Le, they're great! However, the actual store worker or the lady at the counter right next to there was watching me the whole time while I was looking at charms. Never been here before so I was excited to check it out. However, after being watched like that and being hounded I don't think I would ever come back here again to shop. My local Asian stores would never watch me like that and I'd rather spend my money on kind people versus them. 🙂

My first visit to this shop was very disappointing, especially with the butcher's counter employee. Throughout the entire service, he only uttered one word – "No." The counter was busy, with one employee serving other customers, this employee showed up but just kept staring at me until I pointed out what I needed. After weighing the meat, I asked if he could cut it into smaller pieces. His answer was "No," and then he walked away…
