I like that this Hy-Vee still has self checkouts so the lines stay faster and more efficient. Eagan is laid out much better though, primarily in the coolers. They're almost identical elsewhere. The handicap parking is actually really good and adequate.
I absolutely love the variety at Hy-Vee! My mom and I had a fantastic time at the Inaugural Store Opening, where we received the coveted gold bags. The meat department’s pineapple 🍍 bratwurst is a true family favorite, always a hit. The bakery offers exceptional treats, cookies and donuts with ever-changing flavors that keep things exciting. When you need a quick, satisfying meal, their quick service food hits the spot, and they also package meals perfect for lunch or meal prep. Truly good stuff!
We love Hyvee but live a little far for it to be our regular store. I love their catering and bakery for events though and use them whenever I host. I was struggling with the website to place a catering order the week before my daughter's baptism. I called 2 days before our event thinking it wasn't going to be an option at that point. The catering manager, Shane, was so kind and seamlessly took our order and even connected with the bakery himself so I didn't have to place two different orders. On the phone he said a few times, "whatever you need, the answer is yes!". That kind of customer service is so rare these days, thank you Hyvee, and especially Shane for making it such a great experience. We'll continue to use Hyvee as much as we can and I bragged to everyone at the event about how great it was working with you. Thanks again!
Hyvee undisputedly has the best products of all the grocery stores around, yet everything is just out of reach. Need a certain deli meat? Oh it’s closed this time of day…. Need a certain bread/roll? oh it’s out of stock and the bakery can’t give you a guarantee when it will be available… None of which is solved by the online shopping. I’ve requested lasagna, and they’re out, and for a substitute they’ll send a picture of a whole shelf, that’s so out of focus it’s useless. I’ve requested egg salad, and they’re thought potato salad is an acceptable substitute. I’ll attempt to place an online order 6 hours in advance, but the only pickup time available would be the next day during my work hours. I’ll leave specific instructions no to flip the cinnamon rolls vertically, to prevent squishing, but guess what happens… It’s absolutely meaningless that they have the best products because thy make it impossible to reliably obtain any of the good stuff. It’s frustrating and ridiculous, an if they don’t stock the things I need quickly enough, guess what happens? The fuel saver I’ve been building up expires and gets erased. While I’m at it, their "sales" often disguise markups. This past "grilling season" brats were 8 for $10, just like the year before, and was a featured "deal" in their ads; however when Labor day came around, suddenly brats were "on sale" 8 for $12! I get that inflation exists, but if you’re going to mark up products but turn around and call it a "sale"… that’s just a blatant lie. No thank you, I’m done.
Front end manager was extremely disrespectful when we asked them to match a price for their website for an item that has 5 days left on its 90 day shelf life. Absolutely disgusting behavior from an entitled young woman. And she wouldn’t stop harassing us after we spoke to her about how that was foolish.
Well organized! Very clean and friendly staff They are always happy to help! I do like their meat service department. They can handle all your needs and at great prices. Especially during the 3 day meat sales!
I am new to the area and one of my favorite meals is hyvee Chinese. I had went one time right when moving to Apple valley and the food was dry and old. As I was standing there trying to communicate with the workers as there was a bit of a language barrier, there was another hyvee worked that stated that they don’t understand and you won’t get through to them. I processed with my order and when getting home the food was absolutely disgusting, terrible services and quality of food. Tonight I went again wanting to try to give it another chance and very similar experience, food looks old and dry. Asked them if there was fresh food coming up and the experience was over all terrible. The individuals that work back there are very short and passive aggressive making you feel as a customer that it’s wrong to be ordering, not hospitable or enjoyable and I will not be returning.
