You have to remind these people that they are selling your culture and that they work for the people. And when they do sell these items they are outdated or spoiled. The bottled water is $2 and you could taste the plastic. Everything is overpriced and the cashiers are rude. And yet this is not their way of life. Please remind them who they work for. The people. Or send them packing

This Irvington NJ location is normally pleasant but today Sun Dec 17 2023 the customer service or shall I say lack of was horrible. My issue is solely with the male Asian cashier wearing a blue mask he was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I called today at 9:22 am and it lasted 55 seconds to ask if the Angel Brand Guinea Hen Weed small packages were in stock. Cashier reply: we don't have I said are your sure because I always call to check before I make the trip and they let me know Cashier: I don't want you to make the trip on my behalf we don't have My reply wait a minute you not going to check Cashier: NO just don't come and slammed the phone down. I went anyway because I purchase from this location often so I trusted they would have as they normally do ... and they did. I went to the male Cashier and as I handed him my packages I said to him " you ought to be ashamed of yourself for your lack of customer service " I went on to say you could have had someone check Cashier: I am just a cashier that is NOT my job I said to him where is your customer service this is a job where you are dealing with customers that are trying to patronize your business he refused to ring me up and handed my merchandise to the lady cashier ( african american) to ring up my order the male Cashier continued to yell and argue with me about the issue and how it's not his job to inform me if they have merchandise in store and that I should not have came that there are other locations I could have gone to. I asked him what his name was he said that it was NO OF MY BUSINESS The owner of this establishment needs to fire this employee he clearly has NO disregard for your business. His actions today had I listened would have taken money out of your pockets. I do not think you hired him to turn customers away. He needs a job where he does not have to interact with people. I am glad this was NOT my first time calling your store and/or shopping at your business because if it were I would have gone elsewhere. There is one in Newark and Orange New Jersey as well that I have visited but the Irvington location is the closest for me. I thought that it was the SAME owner for all 3 establishments but when I spoke to Newark location after leaving they said they are different owners I hope you review your schedule that should tell you who this employee was. You can also have a conversation with the other cashier who can let you know how he acted. I am not sure if you record your phone calls if so it would be in your best interest to hear that 9:22 incoming phone call today Thank You Happy Holidays Have a Bless Day

It's ok for those specialty Caribbean are African products. The merchandise can be severely over priced. Especially on items that remain after the manufacturer has discontinued them. The store is dirty. The produce usually looks like it has seen better days. If you don't need a specialty item go to the bigger stores or try another location, however; this one has parking.

This market carries many West Indian as well as African food and drink products as well as fruit and vegetable produce. The store staff is very helpful if you need to know where to find something as well as friendly check-out counter service. However, the overwhelming, permeating and pungent smell of fish from the fish counter in the back of the store hits your nose as soon as you enter. They provide a parking lot and be aware that customers use "creative" parking techniques at peak store busy times.
