I had to jump through hoops to BUY a low dollar amount money order 🤦♂️ I literally had to go through 2 levels of store management and being interrogated before I was allowed to BUY the money order 🤦♂️ I told the store manager he could have asked me for an I.D. instead of interrogating me in front of other customers. Stop & Shop as a whole stopped selling a fish that I often purchased from them and it was a popular fish 🤦♂️ I was able to find it at Big Y and as I was telling the person working in the seafood department at Big Y about Stop & Shop stopped selling the fish, another customer overheard me and started telling me about her experience at Stop & Shop and how they discontinued selling the meat that she likes to buy from the deli 🤦♂️Most of the items "on sale" at Stop & Shop are the everyday prices of other grocery stores 🤦♂️ Horrible management 🤦♂️
Lost my wallet near the entrance and didn't realize until I got home, went back was told nicely by one of the associates there they found it it's just in a lock box, had to wait for the manager to come, and 5 6 minutes later he shows up pressing me who it belongs to. I tell him me and my name at least 5 times,he then disappears to the office, comes back tells me there's no id into and asks what's in it and what type it was. I pull out my id and then he chuckles Oh I didn't check there, and then says you're welcome. There's no reason to be arrogant like that, that's how you lose customers. The employees were great but he was nasty.
Horrible store. Weird smell in store as you walk in . The bathroom is gross, nasty, wouldn't even use it. Safer to pee outside. Keep in mind this is what the customer can see, what about what you can't see. No pride maybe just doesn't care. Shame on the store manager. Use caution when buying from the bakery, produce dept, or the meat dept. Good luck to the consumers
Bakery- called today to ask about ordering 24 cup cakes with paw patrol rings put on them. They told me they can do it and the price. I drove down there to place the order…. I get there and the lady says they don’t have paw patrol rings… I said I called right before coming down.. she said idk who you talked to but we don’t.. so I said I called and was informed that you have the rings to place the order… then she says we have the rings but its only for a 24 cupcake cake…. What sense does that make!… you can’t put the rings on the 24 cup cakes but can do it for the 24 cupcake cake.. waste of my time
Quality Stop & Shop location, they maintain a good selection and the people working here are helpful. Also a safe place to shop, though you’ll likely get asked for some money and/or food on your way out. The self-checkout line gets held up at times, but for the most part moves along swimmingly; apart from those things, an overall decent place to bag some groceries.
If you don’t want to work at self checkout then don’t work their. trying to get a little help in the self checkout is the worst especially with today’s worker doesn’t want to help or do anything, and doesn’t want to be their do better with your staff…..
One thing I appreciate about Big Y in Bishops Corner is how earnestly they take customer feedback—and how visibly that feedback drives change, as seen in their recent store updates. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the Stop & Shop on Farmington Avenue. I suspect that feedback here often goes unread, if not outright ignored. I previously reviewed this location, voicing concerns in the hope that things would improve. I believe in giving businesses the opportunity to grow, but sadly, this store has not. This used to be my go-to grocery store. I wanted it to be again. But over the past year, I’ve had a string of negative experiences—two of them just today during a bottle and can redemption visit. First, I arrived about 15 minutes before the redemption area was set to close for cleaning. I only needed a few minutes to finish my returns, and the employee told me he wouldn’t be closing it until the hour. Yet, he began cleaning immediately, sweeping around customers’ feet while we tried to finish. Not only was this unprofessional and uncomfortable, but he also deactivated the automatic door while we were still inside. I had to pry it open with my fingertips to leave. Another customer left at the same time, remarking that his behavior made her uneasy. If the area was to be cleaned from 2–3 p.m., that should have been the actual window for cleaning—not a vague excuse to usher customers out early. When I went to cash in the slips at Customer Service, I found one cashier, who chose to count lottery tickets rather than address the growing line. I understand the need to follow procedure—but it’s also a basic courtesy to assess whether any waiting customers need help before proceeding with a task like that. Ironically, the only customer who wanted lottery tickets had already left. These may seem like small moments, but they reflect poorly on the brand. Every employee, regardless of role, is an extension of the company—and when basic service and courtesy are overlooked, that tells me everything I need to know about management’s priorities. I haven’t even addressed the consistently high prices here, especially when compared to nearby competitors like Big Y. There’s potential for this location to improve—but that road will be long. In the meantime, I’m taking my business elsewhere, and I strongly encourage others to do the same. Customers should not be expected to lower their standards simply because a store fails to meet them.
