Himalayan Asian Grocery Store

My First Review – Disappointed with the Service, Not the Food This is the first time I’m writing a review for a grocery store. Being Nepali, I always enjoy going to Nepali restaurants and grocery stores whenever I'm out of town, since there are no Nepali stores in my area. Last week, I was in Iowa and visited this grocery store because I wanted to buy a lot of things and try their chatpate. When I entered the store, it had a strong smell, but I didn’t say anything and just started looking for what I needed. I asked one of the staff members if they had chatpate, and she said yes. I then asked her the price, and she told me it starts at $3. I thought that was cheaper than what I’ve had at other places. I asked her what the portion size was, and she replied, "Sister, have you never had chatpate before? Don’t act like you don’t know" With rudely. I was shocked. I was just asking a simple question—just tell me the portion size. I felt so humiliated by her response that I didn’t buy all the items I had planned to. I did eat the chatpate, and it was actually good. So I’m not complaining about the food, but about the staff—maybe she was the owner, I’m not sure. As a customer, I didn’t feel respected, and I will not be going back to that place again.

I dropped a friend off there that wanted to play the "fish game" so I went in to take a look, thinking it was more like a gas station, and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. Inside the store was filled to the brim with lots of stuff from pots and pans to asian foods, seasonings, starches, trinkets, cool dishes, but my favorite was the fresh produce. There was an amazing selection and for way lower priced then the corporate ran grocery store. The people that work there are friendly enough, not out going by any means and I did feel like the whole fam was checking me out a time or two. Probably just wondering whay I'm doing because I have to look at everything.

Fish game is the main attraction here. Selling a small variety of items for house and some personal accessories. A lot of items crammed into a couple of short isles and in walkway. Unorganized and stressful experience, with employee acquaintances filling the common areas of the store.

Very nice detailed people that were working! I just had a package delivered there that I had to pick up but ended up leaving with some really good chocolate from India!

Great ppl around. They welcomes me into the store. It was a pleasant experience and they were all nice to direct me where I needed to go.

Could not enter the store due to evangelical group blocking entryway. They had a microphone too and very loud. I had to shop elsewhere...
