Summary: Great Sushi at a Great price Krazys Gourmet Shop This place is a wholesale sushi spot that also has a cozy little restaurant and grocery store inside. The people working there were kind, conversational, and genuinely helpful when explaining the different items they sold. Food: What makes sushi great is not just the fish but the quality of the rice, and both were excellent here. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and consistent all the way through, and the prices were amazing. Everything you see in the picture cost about $25, including the udon. The udon itself was also very good, with a rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. Overall, a great hidden gem for both sushi lovers and anyone who appreciates quality Japanese food at a great price.
Awesome! The food is delicious and the people are super friendly, what more could you want? Hit the sushi bar inside the retail store(which has some great items to pick up while you’re there). Rolls include 4 piece each, which makes it perfect to try several different ones. I tried these: -Fire Ball Roll -Spicy Tuna Roll -Super California Roll -Unagi Roll *highly recommend* Don’t miss this place!
Affordable, fresh sushi with kind staff members. 🙂 A humble establishment that’s worth the visit.
Kazy's Gourmet Shop is awesome. We first came here while it was under remodeling and finally came back now. We got fresh salmon, hamachi, and hamachi kama at very reasonable prices. The place was clean and organized with all the sushi basics you'd need. The staffs were so helpful and nice. As kitchen is closed at 4 on Friday, we missed out on trying their sushi, but we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
Giving positive stars because it’s a family owned business and they are very pleasant but it’s disappointing how common farm raised fish is. I think the illusion people get is that "fresh" mean "wild caught" and "Japanese family owned business" mean maybe the fish is imported from Japan or something but it’s not. Buying fresh wild caught quality fish in America let alone Texas is almost impossible. I came in looking for wild caught but everything (at what was available both times) were farmed raised. Not good for your health. If you see what a farm raised fish look like esp salmon before the dyes you wouldn’t want it …I guess what’s even more interesting is the price when it’s not even wild. But wishing all the best
I discovered Kazy's back in high school over 20 years ago, and my friends and I were enamored with it. Of course, they didn't really have any grocery competition back then. They used to stock way more goods, had actual aisles there was so much, and you had to eat food upstairs. Visiting it now all these years later was a disappointment. I know it's primary income is probably wholesale products, but trust me when I say the grocery/cafe used to be so much better. The little sushi cafe is still decent though greatly scaled down from what it used to be, but for shopping you're better off at Mitsuwa or H-Mart. Actually, the food court options at both are much better as well.
The sushi here is fresh and affordable!! Staff was kind and there’s options to purchase your own sushi grade fish. We normally drive farther north to H-mart but this place will be our new spot. This place beats any happy hour spot. They can run out so mark sure to call, if you’re driving a far distance. The place has a long history of being small family owned business. So be patient.
