Customer Reviews
Spice World Market has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on over 402 reviews on Google
Extremely Disappointed – Rancid Food and Poor Handling We ordered goat biryani and chicken curry, but unfortunately both dishes were rancid, excessively oily, and had an unpleasant, spoiled smell. We took the food back to the store, and even the staff acknowledged that it was not edible. They offered to replace only the curry, but given the condition of both dishes, we didn’t feel comfortable accepting any replacement food. We then requested to use the refund amount toward groceries instead, but were told "no, no, both are separate" and that a refund wasn’t possible. This response was quite disappointing — rather than addressing the issue responsibly, it felt like they expected us to accept poor-quality food. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves both food quality and customer service moving forward.
I learned about this place from a client of mine. I went in because I really wanted to see what they had. I was so surprised and excited for all the things that I’d love to get there that were available. I’ve made quite a few stops here to get certain things we use in our family. They are always so nice. We even stopped for lunch one day, especially since it’s so close to discount tires. If you like spicy food, they have a full menu great service, great staff great very unique finds.
The chicken I was served was undercooked and pink inside. This is a serious food-safety issue and completely unacceptable. I couldn’t eat it and had to throw it away. Very disappointing.
What a lovely little market! My review will mostly pertain to the hot foods they serve, but the grocery section itself was very clean, well stocked, and organized. My spouse is Indian, and while I myself am not, he seemed to think it had everything he could possibly need to prepare his favorite Indian meals—and also was pleased to find his favorite snacks as well. Spice World Market stacks up against the Indian stores we used to frequent in Houston! I saw several reviews claiming the grocery area was dirty, and that the produce was spoiled and the foods were past expiry, but we didn’t have such an experience. Everything was cleanly and well within selling date as of December 2025 when we visited. As for the restaurant section, we had a great experience! We ordered the Punjabi samosas, chicken samosas, chana masala, and chicken 65 gravy with garlic naan. I don’t typically eat meat, but I did try a bite of the chicken 65 gravy, and it was so tasty and flavorful! My favorite of the dishes we ordered so far were the Punjabi samosas. They were sooo crispy, and the potato filling was so well spiced and balanced! They were perfect! It was all so hot and fresh, and the piece of chicken I had was super tender and juicy. I also think the portion sizes were generous for how they’re priced, since I had leftovers as well. I enjoyed their chai. It was well spiced, hot, and delicious. I loved seeing how it was made with whole spices, since there was sediment in my cup—proof it was made with whole, crushed spices! The serving station for it was also kept nice and clean. Prior to ordering here, I saw several negative reviews about the restaurant and the quality of the food served. After visiting, I can confidently and happily write that I had no such experience; everything was clean and fresh. You get the impression that this small business really does operate with integrity, and works hard to maintain a great standard of quality and cleanliness. B/CS certainly is lucky to have such a vendor here! Don’t hesitate to go and order your food, or get your groceries here.
It is advertised as Asian groceries store but it actually carries all South Asian products. Why not name it Indian groceries and the odor inside the store is really weird.
Had a bad experience today with the dhokla. Before buying it I did enquire as to when was it cooked and everything but to my luck when I checked after bringing it home it wasn’t cooked from inside. Called and checked with them and the staff said it will take another 30 mins for them to make the dhokla and give. I opted for a refund instead but they straight said ‘NO’. We got one after 45-50mins of wait and it was cooked but it was soaked in oil and absolutely tasteless. I have had their dhokla before and tasted better. We like their samosas at times but since it’s deep fried and sometimes has too much oil on it we avoided for the night.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They tag the products incorrectly. And apparently that's the customer's fault!? The product I purchased was tagged as diya lamp oil but in reality, it was cow urine!!! And when I came back to return it, instead of accepting their mistake and providing me with the refund that I am rightfully owed, they point me to their "no exchange" policy. When I showed them the incorrect tag, they swiftly removed it, so there won't be any proof! And they have the audacity to blame other customers for the incorrect tag. I returned to the shop after 2 days, and the incorrect tag stayed that way for TWO DAYS! What about the honor of them tagging the items properly? Instead of taking accountability, all they do is blame customers. I have been shopping here for about 2.5 years and they cannot even aplogize to the customer and correct their mistake!
