Subzi Mandi Farmers Market

Subzi Mandi is a solid spot for anyone looking for authentic Indian groceries in the Clifton area. They carry a wide range of fresh produce, spices, lentils, frozen foods, and snacks that you’d typically find back home. I was impressed with their selection of masalas and ready-to-eat options. The store layout is a bit tight, and it can get a little crowded on weekends, but the staff is usually helpful if you’re looking for something specific. Prices are reasonable for the most part, and I appreciate the convenience of having a desi store just a short distance away. Would definitely recommend if you’re missing flavors from home or want to experiment with Indian cooking!

I come here for grocery and buy vegetables that are a little pricey, but that's fine. However, selling spoilt food is not fine. I bought some punjabi pinni's which were spoilt last trip. This trip to thr store is bought these chilling that have been expired in Aug 2025 and I grabbed these off the shelf on Nov 26th 2025. Selling expired food is NOT cool!

I visited this place today, It opened yesterday for public. This place is located between Groove street and valley road on the Vanhouten avenue. This is the largest Indian grocery store available for the people of Clifton, Montclair, Bloomfield, Nutley, Secaucus etc . There are varieties of fresh tropical ( Indian ) vegetables available as well the frozen section having varieties of Indian vegetables like chopped banana flower etc The sweet section is also loaded with various mouth watering Indian sweets. The frozen fish section does not have much choice for Indian or Bangladeshi fish . It would be great if they keep some block rohu, Hilsa and some white pomfret . That would attract more customers. This place has a kitchen too so lots of snacks like vegetable pakora ( fritters) , bread paneer pakora ( cottage cheese stuffed bread fritters), cauliflower potato curry available. Have not seen any non vegetarian curries. This place is located in a strip mall where other stores like Dunkin’ donuts, dollar tree, barbar shop are also available. While planning shopping in this place can sip a coffee in Dunkin’ Donuts or have a hair cut if you need . Plenty of parking available.

The vegetarian thali used to come good with great taste curry and good quantity, now they reduce quantity, taste and raise the price. We bought bread pakoda , it got rotten. Now I'm not suggesting this place for any food.

Chole bhature used to be my favorite food until I tasted this. I’ve tried their food multiple times before and it was good, but today it was a complete disappointment — worse than zero.

They have some very unique items. It seems focused on South Asian / Indian cuisine. I love farmers markets like this.

This place is super cool. They offer so many different types of grains, flours, nuts, seeds, lentils, dal etc. They also have an interesting produce selection. I bought these string beans that were like 3 feet long. I chopped them up and turned them into one of the most delicious bean salads I've had. They also sell fresh herbs and spices and even have a section of hot food ready to order.
