Amazing place for a delicious, Yemenis meal, or a quick grocery stop. Tons of amazing imported and local items as well. The chicken pesto was incredible, and the felafel plate was delicious as well. Fresh, made-to-order, and family-owned. A wonderful spot in Berkeley.

I loved this place under the previous management, but Barbara and Christine have elevated this place beyond just a grocery store. To be sure, it's a solid grocery store with all the essentials (bread, dairy, pantry staples) and some interesting specialty items. But they're also just so friendly: when they ran out of my favorite cereal or cheese, they remembered me when it came in. They're expanding their produce selection too and often have very local, in-season fruits. While it's sometimes more expensive than the big stores, the prices are often comparable, and I think for the convenience and quality it is well worth it. On top of that, the expansion of Casa do Petisco and the addition of new events like samba night make this a neighborhood hub too! I'm looking forward to attending more things.

Back and Better Than Ever! When I first moved to the neighborhood three years ago, I raved about Berkeley Organic Market—great location, good selection, and a friendly vibe (scroll down to see the review). Sadly, over time it really went downhill: the "fresh" produce wasn’t fresh, shelves were often bare of the basics I needed, and the staff went from upbeat and helpful to clearly not wanting to be there. Prices kept climbing, too. Eventually, I only stopped in when I was desperate. But great news: the store is now under new ownership—and what a turnaround! It’s being run by the two amazing women who opened Casa Do Petisco (the delicious Brazilian small plates café tucked inside the market), and they’ve completely revived the place. The produce is fresh again, the grocery section is thoughtfully stocked with high-quality and interesting items, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the prices are actually competitive. I'm so happy to have this gem back in the neighborhood. I've started shopping here regularly again—and recommending it to friends!

Me and my sister were stranded cause my car got towed waiting on a friend to pick us up and I saw the market and wanted a drink to sip on in the meantime. They had heard what happened and asked us we wanted a sweet treat for free. Amazing people their kindness was well respected.

Pao de queso is yummy and fresh! Nice selection of international items like salt from France, pastille from Italy and Halva from Turkey .

They have a really good selection of fresh organic produce with some unique items that you can't find anywhere else. Ran by a very nice Yemeni family. One of the co-owners of the store is a trained chef and has a delicious and healthy items you should try.

Zaa'tar restaurant inside is a hidden gem. I've had their very delicious and satisfying falafel wrap a few times. Come here for yummy yet nutritious food with a big serving size sold for an affordable price.
