Amazing selection fresh product and decent service. Their hot bar is not as good as seattle but still Amazing. And my kids love the gotcha pon. We got to see the dragon dance it was the highlight of out day.
Sooooo good!!! Large Japanese grocery store that is very clean, filled with yummy products. They carry some great grab and go - takoyaki, onigri, bento boxes, sashimi, etc. Highly recommend
This place used to be my favorite market. Everything changed last Friday. After eating uni and salmon purchased here, I became violently ill within hours and eventually had to go to urgent care due to severe vomiting and gastrointestinal symptoms. I understand that food-related illness can sometimes be hard to trace with 100% certainty, but the timing and severity of my symptoms were alarming enough that I can no longer feel safe buying ready-to-eat seafood from this store. Uni is an extremely delicate product that requires strict handling and freshness standards. What I experienced suggests those standards may not have been met. This was not a minor stomach ache — it disrupted my entire weekend, required medical care, and caused significant physical distress. I’m deeply disappointed, especially because this market used to be a place I trusted. I hope management takes food safety and quality control more seriously so others don’t go through the same experience.
Uwajimaya is one of my favorite grocery stores in all of the Seattle/Bellevue area. It’s the best place to go for any type of Asian-style noodle, sauce, or condiment —(I’ll never buy soy sauce at the regular supermarket again!) Their desserts are also fun and their produce section is fantastic. It’s always a treat to stop in here. It’s well priced, and will definitely become a favorite store once you try it.
The lighting refresh makes a huge difference. I love how open the aisles look. I can see the produce more and the hot case is more visible. This location reminds me of the ID’s little cousin. It seems smaller but packs the same punch of offerings. I do appreciate the à la carte options although feel that the ID Uwaji chow mein and chicken tastes better. I noticed that Uwaji has their own sando’s. I tried a katsu one yesterday and the radio of meat to bread seemed slightly off and the sauce was slightly dried up when I bit into it compared to tres sandwiches. This is very minor as Uwaji’s house made food is outstanding. The poke bar is alway exceptional, the fishdepartment is great quality, and I love getting my sukiyaki here. I’m overdue to post a review for the Bellevue location. I would request indoor seating.
Uwajimaya in Bellevue is an efficient and well-organized store with a clear one-way entrance and exit flow that makes navigating easy. The space is clean and thoughtfully laid out, which adds to the overall shopping experience. You’ll find a wide variety of Asian groceries, snacks, sauces, and specialty items that are hard to come by elsewhere. The fresh produce section is well-stocked, and there’s even a live seafood tank if you’re looking for something ultra-fresh. Everything feels curated and easy to find, without the clutter you sometimes get in similar markets. Whether you’re doing a quick grocery run or exploring new ingredients, it’s a solid spot for Asian goods. JY review
I love shopping here. I usually come for an ingredient for an Asian recipe that I can’t find at other grocery stores and end up finding many fun things to eat. Today I came for tamarind concentrate. They have an excellent selection of Asian and tropical fruits and vegetables. The hot bar has some great deals. I highly recommend the mini combo! We got the honey sesame chicken with vegetable rice. Excellent!
