Wolverine Dermatology

In August 2024, I was examining a growth and suspected it might be Squamous Cell Carcinoma, as it looked quite nasty. I scheduled an appointment with Amber Matthyssa at Wolverine Dermatology for a routine skin check and mentioned my belief that it was Squamous Cell Carcinoma. However, she didn’t appear worried and advised me not to be concerned about it. I recommended that she perform a biopsy, which she did by removing the growth for testing. I received a call informing me that the biopsy result was positive for Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and I scheduled an appointment for its removal. On September 19, I returned to Wolverine Dermatology to have it excised, with Dr. Ryan performing the procedure. However, they never scheduled a follow-up appointment or a skin screening test. I was waiting for them to contact me to arrange these appointments, but I never received a call. When I called to check if I had an appointment for the follow-up and screening, they told me I did not. My primary care doctor was upset upon learning that they never arranged a follow-up or skin screening after my diagnosis of Squamous Cell Carcinoma and subsequently referred me to Forefront Dermatology. On February 12, 2026, I saw Dr. Herman at Forefront Dermatology, who identified three suspicious spots that were undertrained and had them removed for biopsy. I am grateful to Dr. Herman for taking my concerns seriously. I will never return to Wolverine Dermatology.

Dr. Freeland was dismissive, rude and arrogant. He is the epitome of a BAD DOCTOR! If you are looking for a place that is welcoming, warm, safe and most of all interested in their patients needs, this is not the place for you. I will never be back!!!!

I definitely RECOMMEND this place for your skin issues. Doctor was very nice and listened to my concerns.

I have been into this office each year for a few years and have had no issues w/ the doctors I have seen. Appointments usually only last about 2-3 minutes. Scheduling, on the other hand is abysmal. I had to change my appointment and waited through multiple recordings and they always have call back later. Wait two months for another appointment. Maybe this is standard, but it is really annoying.

I am very disappointed with Angela. She talked to me very rude and would not apologize sincerely after messing up my medication record. She "forgot" to submit my form to iPledge causing me to wait an extra month for medication I was promised to be prescribed to a month prior. Stacey is amazing and helped as much as she could, but I am very disappointed by how I was spoken to and treated by Angela.

I had a few spots I was concerned about and had never been to a dermatologist. I just had my first appointment with Amber, and she was so nice and informative. The people at the front desk were also very pleasant!

Everyone, from the front desk staff to the PA’s to Dr Freeland are just SUPER great! Dr R. Freeland is not only incredibly intelligent, he has fantastic "bedside manners"! He charmingly funny and extremely personable. Both my husband & I are patients of his and I just referred my 89 yr old Mother to him. Today was her appointment & she loved him too! I would HIGHLY recommend him & his office.
