I seen Aileen Deamer, As a woman of color, finding a dermatology office that truly understands and cares for melanin-rich skin can be challenging—but this office exceeded every expectation. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, respected, and genuinely heard. The staff was kind, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. My dermatologist took the time to listen to my concerns—especially about hyperpigmentation and scarring—and offered treatment options specifically tailored to my skin tone and texture. What impressed me most was how well-versed they were in treating a wide range of skin tones. I never once felt like an afterthought. They explained each step in a way that was easy to understand and helped me feel confident in my skincare journey. I’ve already seen amazing results, and for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful and empowered about my skin. If you’re a woman of color looking for a provider who truly gets it, this is the place to go. I’m beyond grateful for the care I’ve received and highly recommend them to anyone seeking inclusive, expert dermatological care.
Shocked when I just tried to call and schedule an appointment with this office. My PCP put in a referral and I received a call from them a few weeks ago. When I got around to calling to schedule they told me the physicians aren't taking new patients and I could see the APRN depending on my insurance. I've been an APRN for 20 years so very happy to see that provider. I told them our insurance was Tricare and they told me the APRN doesn't take that insurance and just stopped talking. I explained I had been referred there, Tricare had approved it, and THEY had called me to schedule! She put me on hold for two seconds, comes back on, and says, "no one recalls calling you." WHAT?! I have the voicemail on my phone and I can't believe I'm even having to prove this to a receptionist. I'll definitely pass on the info to my PCP. Terrible customer service! Look elsewhere for care.
I had an excellent experience at Hartford Dermatology. The staff was professional, courteous, and efficient from the moment I walked in. APRN Aileen Deamer was incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to listen to my concerns, and explained everything clearly. The facility was clean, modern, and well-organized, and I felt very comfortable throughout my visit. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for top-quality dermatological care. I definitely recommend this office and SPECIFICALLY the APRN here!
The Dr's are great. The receptionists make the experience cold as ice. No eye contact, talk like robots, so cold. Come team, we're all humans, we can be nice to each other. Also, what dr's office has a busy signal, or an "all circuits are busy now" prompt. Invest in a better phone system here!
Have gone to Hartford Dermatology Associates, and have been seen by Aileen Deamer for a few different dermatology issues that were addressed and resolved. Aileen is very thorough and friendly along with the great and friendly staff. Would recommend.
Similar to another review on here almost identical and glad I read it because it made me feel a little less bad that I wasn’t the only one. Same story as other one I accidentally wrote the wrong time and put 330 down on my calendar instead of 315 was a total accident! I called around 325 already 10 mins passed and said so sorry I’m in a parking lot on 84 traffic was horrible and I was running a few minutes late. The receptionist didn’t say a word that my appt was actually at 315 when I flat out told her I was late for my 330 not realizing and rather than just tell me nicely I was passed the grace period and it would be better if I rescheduled she said nothing. To then get there and be given the worst attitude and so unprofessional by everyone!! The medical assistant or whoever is in charge of checking you in to the room to ask the typical intro questions if insurance changed recent surgeries etc literally was talking saying crazy things about me and why would I still come 30 mins later but then proceeded to call my name to come be seen I looked right at her and said "I could reschedule!" She told me to keep walking and go to the right. I’ve never in my life been in a doctors office that unprofessional where the entire waiting room could hear this girl talk crap about me and then come get me and when I told the doctor what happened she said. "They didn’t tell me you called" which further proves the administrative staff is completely unprofessional because if it meant that much to practically make a scene then again they should have nicely asked me to reschedule on the phone when I considerately called ahead. Oh and I had to call twice because she picked up the first time and said please hold and hung up so I had to call back. I love the doctor I’ve seen over the years here but that experience made me never want to return to the office again.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this dermatology office, particularly with Dr. Deamer. From the moment I arrived, the receptionists were cold and unwelcoming—barely making eye contact, let alone greeting me. As for Dr. Deamer, I strongly advise people of color to avoid her. She was dismissive and unhelpful, immediately assuming my under-eye concerns were purely genetic without offering any real solutions beyond "wear sunscreen." When I asked if there were other options, she seemed clueless and literally resorted to googling an article in front of me instead of providing informed medical advice. It felt incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. On top of that, she made an extremely inappropriate comment, referring to my skin as "Black people skin" when discussing sunscreen. It was uncomfortable, culturally insensitive, and frankly unacceptable. To make matters worse, the prescription she did provide wasn’t even properly authorized, so I left with nothing but wasted time. If you’re a person of color looking for a dermatologist who understands melanin-rich skin, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. Dr. Deamer lacks both the knowledge and cultural awareness to provide competent care.
