Schweiger Dermatology Group - Sunnyvale

I really liked my dermatologist even though I was not able to get my skin fixed, we tried all of the currently available treatments. However, I had a bill sent to collections without a phone call, email, or letter from the office. I am now unable to get in contact with the office and am being sent to an AI agent and then a call center. I used to be able to speak to the office but they were acquired by s conglomerate Schwiger Dermatology in June 2025. So, if you wanted personal care that doesn't seem to be an option anymore and I would recommend you go elsewhere.

Check your bills carefully. I was billed for a complex 45 to 59 minute visit (CPT 99204), but my total time on site was only 39 minutes, including checking in, waiting in the lobby, vitals, the exam, and checking out. I provided proof, but their billing department refused to correct the charge. The care was also dismissive. No prescription was made, so the visit did not meet the complexity requirement for the code either. The doctor offered no diagnosis other than dry spots, refused to perform a biopsy, and just told me to buy over the counter lotion.

Do not work with them! Doctors do decent works but the front desk never answers your phone call and it's just so stressing to schedule/reschedule appointments with them and communicate everything via voicemails. You have to talk with the AI agent first to leave a voice mail, they will call you for more information, and if you miss that call, you will have to call them back, and they will not answer and you will have to leave a voice mail again. I had to change the clinic after reaching out to them multiple times via phone and I was never answered (this was in 2024). I have a 6 sessions/$2000 microneedling package with them and only used once but I am getting the refund and going to a new clinic. I had to call them 4 times when I made the first visit and 3 get the refund (and yes, 2 times I was directed to leave voice mails and the one time that I finally was answered, I was on hold for 10 minutes).

Front desk staff needs more training in patient centered care. I scheduled an appt in the Sunnyvale location and when I arrived to my appt I was informed that the appt was scheduled in the Los Altos location. I checked my call log while I was at the front desk and confirmed that I did in fact call Sunnyvale when I scheduled the appt. Instead of apologizing and figuring out how this mistake was made on their end or how they could accommodate me, they refused to see me and told me that I just had to reschedule. The front desk staff didn’t offer any explanation and just said "I don’t know what to tell you I didn’t schedule your appt and you can’t be seen today." When I called Los Altos they were kind enough to look into what happened and confirmed that I did call Sunnyvale and that it was a mistake in their scheduling. They apologized and checked in with the providers to see if they could squeeze me in today. That should have been the response in Sunnyvale instead of sending me away when I took time off of work to be there.

Dr. Recht and staff are great… Very competent, knowledgeable and pleasant. Couldn’t be happier with them

I got charged $600 for a "45" minute session that only took 15 minutes. This was also just a consulting visit, no work was performed. I just got something prescribed. Reaching out to their "solution team" does nothing

I've been seeing Dr. Bernard Recht since my mid-twenties, and now in my late sixties, I can confidently say he is the best dermatologist around! During my last visit, the front office staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, especially when I got lost and arrived late. They still made time for me, which means so much! Thank you all for your continued support and exceptional service. I truly love this office and highly recommend.
