I had the pleasure of delivering both of my babies at Stamford Hospital, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. The nursing staff was incredibly caring and attentive. During my second delivery, things progressed so quickly that I gave birth just 30 minutes after arriving, which meant I couldn’t receive an epidural. Unfortunately, my husband missed the moment because he was parking the car with our son, but I felt completely supported by the nurses and the on-call doctor. The level of care I received post-delivery was exceptional, from the follow-up by the doctors to the attentive food service and regular vital checks. I truly appreciated how the staff respected my choices, whether it was opting for lower doses of pain relief or choosing to formula feed. My experience with my first delivery was equally positive. The nurses took the time to teach me about postpartum wound care and provided all the necessary supplies. They also guided me through the basics of breastfeeding. On both occasions, they ensured I had extra supplies when I needed them and that both my baby and I passed all necessary checks before we left early. I recommend Stamford Hospital to anyone considering delivering here!
Greatest Hospital , so far. Nurses are great , assistant to nurses are good , especially, Wilmer on the 8th floor, he was amazing. The Doctors were perfect , professional, and awesome. The guys from Radiology were extraordinary, Dan and Carlos. Everyone at ER especially Magan and young Dr that took care of my mom were fantastic. Molly on 8th floor was terrific. Overall, I appreciate everyone including security guard. The hospital is clean , fully stocked, and looks like a fancy hotel. Thank you.
On October 16, 2025, I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy, but the procedure was canceled because my blood pressure reached a dangerously high level of 245/135. The surgical center staff tried to stabilize it, but nothing was working. They told me they had spoken with a Stamford ER nurse named Dani and advised me to go there immediately because they feared I was at risk of having a heart attack. When I arrived at the Stamford Emergency Room, no one knew who I was or what was going on. I had to wait over three hours just to be taken to a room, all while experiencing chest pain, severe abdominal pain, and intense anxiety from being told I might have a heart attack. When I finally saw the ER doctor, she was cold and dismissive. I wasn’t given fluids, medication, or even proper care for my dangerously high blood pressure. Instead, she offered me Tylenol for severe pain—despite me explaining I suffer from Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, spinal stenosis, and a hiatal hernia. I pleaded for appropriate pain relief, and it took two more hours before I received any. My blood pressure was still dangerously high at 235/198, yet they told me they "don’t deal with heart issues" in the ER and "don’t have the medication" to bring it down—something I know isn’t true, as this has happened before. While two nurses were kind and compassionate, most of the staff were rude and dismissive. I felt like they didn’t want to deal with patients or show basic empathy. I ultimately declined admission because I didn’t feel safe or cared for and decided I would seek treatment elsewhere. To make matters worse, I left with bruises and marks on my arms from how roughly they took my blood pressure and tried to insert my IV. I’ve already experienced medical trauma at Stamford Hospital in the past, and this visit only made it worse. Doctors and nurses take an oath to treat patients with compassion, respect, and dignity. I understand the importance of following regulations and protecting one’s medical license, but humanity must come first. Patients like me, who live with chronic illnesses and pain, deserve to be treated with kindness—not judgment or indifference. I hope sharing my story encourages better communication, compassion, and care for future patients.
This Review may be too lengthy for some, But I hope some of you may realize my intent is To potentially improve the ER. I am a disabled senior with an MBA. I have two daughters in the healthcare profession and I appreciate more than most how challenging the work in the ER can be for all. I would estimate I’ve been in 20 hours in my life as a patient and six or seven in the last year. I’ve had spine issues since I was 25 And have had 15 to 18 bones, spine and nerve surgeries in the list 20 years I know my body, and I felt there were several things that need to be addressed to improve a patient experience. I) I felt my my SEVERELY ACUTE PAIN Was not taken seriously 2) I was in the ER for approximately 12 to 15 hours on one of the temporary beds That you see in the hallway. I pretty much begged to get a Typical Hospital bed into the room where I was I waited. I believe I was told that none were available, and there was no attempt to potentially find one 3) For some reason, I was told my meds were not in my chart , And I expressed to the nurse that my chart from white Plains Hospital and MONTEFIORE could easily be merged with Stamford Epic. There was no attempt my To potentially merge the records. I also offered to go on my chart in white Plains and provide a list of all the meds that I’m on. I was advised that they could not use that information because he could not be confirmed which is somewhat BS 4). I have a very serious back surgery coming up hopefully on Tuesday I was told there was no availability to get me a bed On the 10th floor, where I’ve been a few times After being admitted after approximately, The nurse on 10 asked me why I was in the ER so long because they had plenty of beds available. 5) I was also told that since I needed an MRI it didn’t make sense for me to go up on 10 only to be waiting to be called for an MRI. Here’s the real kicker. I was told I would have an MRI the following morning at 7:30 AM. And again, it made no sense to move me around I have since come to learn that the The MRI Was operating on an emergency basis only on Christmas. 6) As I continued somewhat begging for pain meds, I was told there were delays in the pharmacy of up to four hours. I asked why the pharmacy could not access my medical records from both my charts, and was told that they don’t do that The primary ER nurse I saw was a sweetheart. I have no idea where all the misinformation came from I now live in Stamford and I’m not sure I would ever come to the ER here again There needs to be communication, training and teamwork in the ER which I did not see in any way shape or form. I know for a fact that if I had gone to white Plains Hospital, I would have been admitted an inner room within one hour given the severity of my injury I will hopefully have a successful surgery here on Tuesday. Based on my communications with the trauma team here and my The availability of my neurosurgeon that will do the procedure could have been completed yesterday at At 1 PM. I usually try to look forward not backward I am unable to move and I now sit on the 10th floor, waiting for my pain button to light up every eight minutes and taking a significant amount of oxycodone just to manage my pain
No one really wants to go to the hospital, but if you have to, I’m so glad I chose Stamford Hospital. From start to finish, the care was exceptional—I was seen promptly, checked by several specialists to make sure everything was okay, and the nurses were absolutely wonderful. Everything ran smoothly, and I never had to wait. It honestly felt like the Four Seasons of medical care!
On Friday October 17,2025 I was a patient of Dr. Darlene Negbenebor’s at Stamford Hospital. I have been her patient for over 15 years. SHE IS THE BEST, at both what she does & in character!!! I was/am extremely impressed & eternally grateful to the team of nurses, technicians & entire staff that cared for me. A colonoscopy isn’t fun but everyone from entry to exit were exceptionally kind, attentive, caring & personable. To all the nurses, especially those who gave me CONCERN,CARE & COMFORT, THANK YOU CAN NEVER SAY ENOUGH!! I RECEIVED THE BEST! TO: Dr. Negbenabor & The Entire Team YOU ARE THE ABSOLUTE "BEST"!!!❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
It is so sad this hospital continues to decline even after this huge upgrade. I came to the hospital 6/17/2025 for something emergent but not dire. I walked in at 545am and didn’t get to leave till 9am I was disgusted. The overnight staff sat me in a negative pressure isolation room with feces in the restroom. Staff trying to wait for there relievers ignored me, packed there bags, sat and used their phones all while I tried to get another room. CALMLY I might add considering. The physician Dr Mark Bell, Charge nurse Katey, The registration woman ( I wish I caught her name) were the only people in 4hrs to assist with kindness and concern for ME. Just gross save your life and go to Greenwich or Norwalk hospital. I could have gotten something wayyyyy worse than what I came in for over neglect and lack of empathy. I forgot to mention the room they changed me to after had a bloody pad in it that I was so disgusted by I had to cover with supplies around the room.
