Mayo Clinic Dermatology

Not sure why the reviews are so bad. To start, i personally inquired to Mayo Derm for hyperhydrosis treatment and recieved a response and subsequently an initial appointment all within a week. Now on to the dr. Doctor David Swanson. He is amazing. truly a brilliant man, wonderful bedside manner, a bit of a comedian actually, just makes me feel comfortable and confident in his level of knowledge and ability to treat my issue. I’m very grateful

Something is wrong with the reviews for the Mayo Clinic dept of Dermatology in Scottsdale, AZ. I've tried for weeks to just be seen at the clinic for a "second opinion". Never, never has the MC called me, I've always had to call them. I provided a lot of personal information to them so they can input that information into their "records" and after getting the run-around from the MC Derm dept, they sent me to "central appts" who said I need to be diagnosed with cancer to even be seen. The screening nurse for the Derm dept I spoke with did not seem very intelligent and apparently does not read the information published by the Mayo Clinic's Dermatology. Although I cited the MC's article and also directed her attention to similar articles published by the Cleveland Clinic and also the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, she thought she knew more than the doctors who wrote those articles. There has to be a reason for such a "world class" hospital's clinic to have only 2 reviews, both with 1 star reviews. Go somewhere else. The Mayo Clinic seems like nothing more than a scam.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience with Mayo Clinic Dermatology. During my appointment, the provider spent less than one minute with me. They seemed rushed, were cold in demeanor, and showed no interest in addressing my concerns or explaining anything. I left feeling dismissed and dehumanized. After being referred to another department, I was bounced back and forth between providers with no clear plan or communication. It became obvious that the departments were not coordinating care, and I was left without support or answers—just more frustration and delay. When I voiced my concerns through the patient message portal, I received a letter accusing me of being "inappropriate," simply for advocating for myself. This response was unprofessional and felt retaliatory, further reinforcing how poorly patients are treated when they speak up. I eventually had to seek care elsewhere, where I finally received the professionalism and respect that was entirely missing at Mayo Clinic. I no longer trust this organization with my health and strongly advise others to seek care at a facility that truly values patients.

Enjoy visiting this facility, even if your insurance is network they surprise you with a facility charge, mine was $244.29 and then please don’t ask Dr Costello any questions, I went in for preventative skin cancer screening and Dr Costello coded something as skin lesions, prescribed nothing / no follow up. In network $358 when I questioned his coding the office sent me to billing so I talk with billing and they sent me to the office ….what a joke over $600 for a in network preventative skin cancer screening and all he did was look at me no follow up no tests
