I recently had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Preissig after my original dermatologist moved away. He came highly recommended, particularly because I was interested in laser treatments and was told he is certified on all of the laser machines the office offers. I also needed a refill for a prescription medication I had recently started. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. While Dr. Preissig maintained a kind and cheerful demeanor throughout the visit, his communication style felt dismissive and did not allow adequate space for me to speak or fully explain my concerns. When I mentioned side effects I have personally experienced from my prescription—side effects that my previous dermatologist had explicitly discussed with me and assured me were expected—he flatly dismissed them and stated there was "no way" my former dermatologist would have said that. Despite his pleasant tone, this came across as gaslighting, as it invalidated both my lived experience and prior medical guidance. He also recommended specific face washes and treatments that I had already used in the past, including alongside another prescription medication I have been on for over five years. When he explained that improvement could take weeks or months, I attempted to clarify that I had already been using this medication long-term, including the higher dosage he was recommending I restart, and wanted to understand what additional improvement I could realistically expect at this point. Each time I tried to provide context or ask follow-up questions, I felt cut off and unheard. What was particularly frustrating is that the entire visit felt like a deterrent from discussing laser treatments—the primary reason he had been recommended to me. Instead of having a productive conversation, I was repeatedly reminded that discussing laser treatment would require an additional consultation fee. I was already aware of this and fully prepared to pay it, as it had been explained during my previous visit with my original dermatologist. However, after being consistently dismissed and made to feel as though my concerns were invalid or exaggerated, I ultimately decided not to move forward with a laser consultation with him. I am extremely disappointed in the level of patient care I received. I have been dealing with ongoing skin issues that someone my age should no longer be struggling with, and I came in genuinely seeking solutions. I truly thought I had found an office where my concerns would be heard and where I could receive the treatments I need. Unfortunately, this experience proved otherwise. UPDATE I also want to address my attempts to follow up after this appointment. I repeatedly called the number provided for extension 12862, and no one ever answered. I then contacted the front desk, who placed me on hold to transfer the call and subsequently disconnected it. After several more unanswered attempts, I called again from a different phone number and the front desk answered immediately. This strongly suggests that my calls were being screened. If there were a genuine interest in resolving this issue, someone could simply return my call. Instead, I received a generic, canned response that creates the appearance of concern and responsiveness, while my repeated attempts to speak with someone directly have been ignored. The disconnect between the public response and the actual follow-up speaks for itself.

I've been going to Derm SA on and off for years. My mother-in-law goes as well and we have always been treated great. Recently my company changed insurance companies and it's the worst insurance in the world! Is the Arrayhealth with HealthSmart and they keep telling them that my insurance has been dropped. It has not been dropped and so when they call the 800 number on the back of the car to try and get me approved and they put in their tax ID number then the company hangs up on them every time. Therefore it's been a nightmare for me to get approval to be seen and get anything done. This has been this way at my heart doctor, at the pharmacy, at strict and quest to get test done and many many other places. Samantha S. In insurance has gone over the call of duty to help me to get approved and got me in. I'm so grateful to her for fighting for me. Dr Karen Guerrero has seen me a couple times and she is a great and caring doctor as well. And I would recommend them to anybody.

Marisol is the best person I have encountered at Derm SA. I love the treatment she provides. She is so friendly, funny and caring she definitely goes above and beyond. I would highly recommend her if you’re getting any type of cosmetic treatments. I would give her a rating if 100/100. She is simply the best and a great friend I have come to know.

I had Mohs surgery here on July 28, 2025. The staff is absolutely superb. Special thanks to Kristin in the call center and Sarah my Mohs surgery technicians for being courteous and so professional. Dr. Steinmetz, my Mohs surgeon, is outstanding. She made a very difficult procedure (Mohs surgery is no picnic) tolerable for me. This is my second time having her work on my scalp (two different places) and honestly…..why would I trust anyone else? I highly recommend this office and Dr. Steinmetz if you need this procedure…..they are the best! Thank you Dermatology SA!
