The Derm Institute: Annie Chiu, M.D.

BEWARE! The most shameful cash grab I've ever seen from a doctor. It is stunning how the greed is right up front with Chiu. Beware when she walks out of the room: you will be in a high pressure hell by her employee sent in there to buy countless products you don't truly need at prices sometime much higher than what you can get online. Chiu jacks up procedure costs as well. Had a worthless no results procedure for $250 last time? This time it's $400! The broken blood vessels are still very visible. I was dealing with extreme hyperthyroidism at the time and Chiu was counter reactive with unkindness. It turns out these broken blood vessels were due to rosacea. She never discussed rosacea with me. And she never prescribed me Metronidazole topical cream 0.75%; cost maybe twenty dollars with your insurance. Instead, Annie Chui shook me down for roughly $650 in 2 treatments to treat broken blood vessels, which would be perpetuated by the rosacea. These procedures were useless: no result procedures. Just financial shakedown after financial shakedown at this place. What kind of "dr" is photographed lying down in her self-promos. (I can't answer that here.)

I have been seeing Dr. Chui for over a decade. I recently came back to her after a few years hiatus and it was (per usual) a fantastic experience. I have trusted her with my skin and have recommended her to everyone that has complemented my skin. I started visiting her for acne concerns in my late teens and now I have returned for preventative aging concerns in my early 30s. She’s INCREDIBLE!

BEWARE! My biggest mistake was to go see Dr. Chiu. I saw her back in January 2024 and originally was inquiring about Software and mentioned my filler under my left eye and asked if I could dissolve filler first. She recommended a threadlift instead and filler so I believed her "expertise". Well two weeks later you could still see the filler under my eye. I went to see her and she asked if I was doing Sofwave and I said I didn't feel comfortable doing it so soon because I was still bruised from the threadlift. She then gave me the mirror and pointed out the shadowing of the corners of my mouth and said she could improve that with filler.. I agreed and told her we could put a little filler on my bottom lip to balance out my upper lip. While doing that she decided to do add filler to my scar close to my mouth and then she said she was going to add more filler on the top lip and kept adding filler in other areas and I began to get worried but she said "Everything is looking great". When she was done she handed me the mirror and I immediately said, "that's too heavy, that's too much". She assured me it was the swelling. I went home and things didn't seem to get better. I went to see her again and she kept telling me I looked great and I said my chin and jaw area area didn't look good. Then she compared my before and after pics and then finally admitted and said, "oh it looks squared". She then said she could fix it by adding a little filler to the chin so she did. Then she said they were going to prepare me for the Sofwave and I said I just had the filler on the chin and she said her assistant would avoid that area with Sofwave. I don't know why I believed her but I was just hoping to get back to normal again. Well the Sofwave hurt a lot and it only lasted a few months. Sofwave did not really tighten the areas where I had filler and the areas where I didn't have filler it was short lived. Looking back yes, I realize how pushy they were. I was left a mess so be very careful or you will end up overfilled and also, she does not have an aesthetic eye. What a waste of time and money!

As a patient, I have always been extremely satisfied with the results of my visits, and I can confidently say that Dr. Chiu and her staff are truly amazing in every sense of the word. The procedures carried out by Dr. Chiu require a high degree of care and precision, which is why I make sure to prepare myself for each visit. This attention to detail is not only reflected in her work but also in the overall atmosphere of the office, where every staff member demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest level of service. It’s worth noting that an office visit with Dr. Chiu carries a fee of $250 solely for new patients or for consultations. While this may seem steep to some, it is important to remember that this fee covers the doctor’s time. In my experience, the quality of care and attention I have received from Dr. Chiu and her staff has more than justified this cost. One of the things that sets Dr. Chiu’s practice apart is the exceptional level of care and kindness shown by her staff. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, you are treated with respect, kindness, and a level of attentiveness that is truly remarkable. I have never had any concerns or issues during my visits, as the staff has always taken excellent care of me and provided any assistance I may have needed. Overall, I cannot recommend Dr. Chiu and her staff highly enough. If you are willing to invest in quality results, then this is absolutely the place to be. From the initial consultation to the final result, every aspect of my experience with Dr. Chiu has been nothing short of exceptional, and I look forward to continuing my care with her in the future.

I have gone to Dr. Chiu for years and she has been incredibly kind, showed empathy and interest in my needs. I do go with a mindset that I will be there for awhile, its rarely in and out. Even when things around her are frantically busy, she is a calming presence. Yes, one of her receptionists in the past was not very warm, but I'm really not there to make friends. I go for the high quality of service - a doctor who knows my medical history, sets realistic expectations, and provides effective treatment. In those areas, she is 10/10.

I had the most amazing appointment today with Dr Chiu. She completed rejuvenated my face using different fillers that were appropriate for different areas on my face. I am 53 years old. I felt my face looked hallow which made my face look long. I am over the moon with the results! I highly recommending seeing Dr Chiu. I don’t know why anyone would want to go to an RN or PA for injections on the face when you can actually see a doctor. Dr Chiu has a class act team who gave me an amazing experience from the moment I arrived to the moment I left!

I see Dr. Annie Chiu regularly and she takes care of all my cosmetic treatments and needs. I am super happy with my results! I’m grateful to be in her expert care! She is knowledgeable, patient, listens to my needs, kind and very professional! I’m always happy and more importantly confident and beautiful after my appointment with her!
