UPMC St. Margaret Dermatology

Caution: great care but SUPER EXPENSIVE - even with UPMC Silver insurance. The total charged amount: $2,181 My total out-of-pocket: $ 605 (Hospital/physician/pathologist: $292+244+$69) While a premium of a hospital affiliate is expected, the $292/$244 hospital-to-physician services ratio of 120% seems unfathomable. In layman’s terms, while being seen for a routine body check, 1) two suspicious moles were removed (and subsequently sent to pathology and determined to be benign); and 2) one wart was treated with liquid nitrogen. (This method was not successful and subsequent medical treatment for the removal of the wart has been engaged elsewhere as a result.) At no time during the consult did it occur to me to request a determination of the cost of these services since my sense was that the visit and services therein seemed fairly routine, with no expectation of incurring unusual and extraordinary expenses.My guess is that competing providers would likely charge less than half of this?

Pitiful work. They need to be embarrassed. A melanoma removed from my forehead. Don't recommend as now I need to look for work. Very poor service and results.

Dr. Erin Skaros is the best. Fast service in the office, great staff. No need to go anywhere else!!
