Daiwa Sushi Bar & Japanese Cuisine - Metairie has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 512 reviews on Google
The food here is decent and the sushi offerings do have some interesting combinations. The really groovy thing here is that they make some very pretty drinks that do a cute change of color so you get a bit of a special magic show. The service is decent enough although they can be a bit slow on getting around to check on you sometimes. The restaurant itself is nice enough on the inside but it often gets crowded so you might end up on the outside balcony patio which can be a bit cool during colder weather but they do have the little tower propane heaters going. Overall I would go back but it isn't taking me away from my first choice of sushi at Kanno except when Kanno is too crowded for me to get in...
Service was outstanding. Described what I was looking for and a special sushi roll was constructed for me. Every dish was amazing, plenty of flavor. Cute and creative holiday cocktails. I can't wait to go back.
We went on a Friday in the night without a reservation and they give me a table outside The place is nice, fancy, the food was good, the menu have a lot of plates The people very kind The only thing I dont like that you have to pay gratitude in the ticket and also the tip, it was like 50 usd only for that
Best dining experience I've had in a while. The quality of both service and food was spectacular! Our server was great and she gave me a suggestion for a sushi roll, the Tuna Tsurai, which I enjoyed. Another favorite from my dinner was the Kimchee Octopus salad and the white fish tuna that came with our tricolor sashimi. My partner's favorite was the scallops and thought the enoki mushrooms went well with it. Unfortunately I forgot our server's name, but believe it started with a D (Delene? Sorry!) She was fantastic. Richard the bartender made us fantastic drinks!!! The only thing that felt out of place were the many TVs in the restaurant. It didn't effect anything negatively at all but that stood out. I am excited to come back and eat more delicious sushi.
I have been all over the US and can confidently say this is one of the best places I have been to for sushi. I feel like a lot of places lately have been suffering from a lack of care with their servers. This place was an exception. One of the best experiences I have had since prepandemic. The menu options were insane. A literal book and almost overwhelming. Our server acknowledged this and offered suggestions. Really appreciated that they weren’t the most expensive and after tasting spot on for what the 3 of us said we liked. 10 out of 10 will definitely go again. Not expensive for for how delicious it was and absolutely recommend it to anyone.
There are so many amazing things to say about Daiwa. I love this place it's our families go to for special events and for high end affordable Japanese cuisine. Being a life long chef and restaurant operations manager I feel like I can speak from experience. They always have exciting things they have brought in from Japan. The bars cocktail program rivals and surpasses many of the best bars in the New Orleans area. Richard the bar manager is so talented it makes me jealous. Great sake selection as well. Came here on a recent date with my son after winning his battle with cancer. Had a great time. My son always asks to go to Daiwa. Can't even get him to go out for a burger 😂. Thanks for always making us smile with the service and food. Cheers.
Wow, this was a nice surprise… expected a typical Japanese place, this was just amazing. Phenomenal menu, the best selection of sake and Japanese whiskey, and really nice jazz music playing lightly in the background. The menu was several pages long, lots and lots of sushi rolls (I don’t eat those but my girlfriend does)… the sushi is varied, and very fresh… and the prices are great! The one visit we made was wonderful, the service was a bit slow, but it was kind of busy.
