I had the best experience here!! This was my second time a u t but my first time going from the emergency room through admission. I am a end-stage renal patient on solo dialysis. My original surgeon was Doctor Oscar Grandes, I had had trouble with my chest CVC catheter and UT was full so I ended up going to Fort Sanders and they replaced my catheter. I soon regret it not waiting to be able to be seen by the original team that performed my chest catheter surgery. It was exactly one week later I was at UT to get a replacement due to the catheter not functioning properly. From the moment I stepped through the doors and there was only three people ahead of me this time the care I received from the registration team, the quickness of the process to get checked in and seen by a nurse and a doctor was very awesome it made me feel like I mattered. And I still swear and told my husband that my doctor that saw me in the ER look like Mark Ruffalo. He was also very kind and made sure to get all the blood work and samples he needed to make the right decision as far as how to make sure I receive the care I needed!! Once I was admitted and was taken to my room I was flabbergasted by the beauty of the room, and the technology I was just blown away by being able to control the shades by my remote and they're being a charger on the bed. I am still trying to figure out how to do the daisy award on my phone, but I just have to say my nurse Barbara and my nurse at check-in when I first arrived and my CNA my brain is not what is used to be forgive me she was beautiful and had a beautiful braid in her hair. I couldn't help but hug her on my way out when I saw her in the hallway when my husband and I were leaving Monday evening. Both my CNAs Diego and my sweet one that works a night shift they were both amazing kind-hearted CNAs that I could tell their passion was patient care!!! And of course my team of doctors were amazing they actually listened to me when I said I would like to have dialysis once the catheter was placed also the doctors that visited me during dialysis that listen to me and my desire to and there's I believe to get me home just in time for Christmas Eve with my family. Also the surgeons and their surgical team they made the whole experience smooth and kept me calm I was in Twilight however I had someone picking under the sheet to make sure I was okay and all the ladies of that surgical team made me feel well first they made me blush being so kind to me they are all kind-hearted and very high performing and knowledgeable team. I appreciate it all I came in contact with and I will say my nurse checking me in for the surgery as well was taking over for another nurse that had been with me during my surgery original surgery on September 30th. My nurse that day excuse my brain, tell me that the nurse that she relieved to take her lunch break had remembered me and let her know that I was a good patient, but it was the fact that she remembered me that touched me the most. Everyone I came in contact with during my stay all made me feel that I mattered and even as I listened in the surgical room in the curtain next to me and how the nurses responded to that patient it brought tears to my eyes tears of joy knowing that that's how working in the medical field is supposed to be. Surrounded by caring individuals there to take care of people that are unable to do it in that moment. Now I'll do it with love and compassion and respect. And Dr Grandas and his team fixed what the fort sanders team messed up with my catheter with a snap of his fingers🤗 I will always go back to UT from now on!! Also I received a beautiful poinsettia the morning of my surgery it brought tears to my eyes too because I had always wanted one. Oh and I can't leave out my ultrasound tech she was a beautiful silver fox with a kind heart and very good at explaining what she was doing to everyone at UT medical alcoa 💖💖💖 Thank you for giving me amazing care, letting me be heard, and getting me home in time for Christmas. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Expert, friendly, and caring service. One complaint would be, there are no accommodations for family to stay with their family member who is in ICU. They need a motel on site. We have slept in our car for over a week. We live an hour away and our family member is on life support. All the staff was wonderful, except one nurse in CVICU. Her name is Lauren. We overheard her telling a co-worker that our family member wasn't insured and that he was a non-paying patient. Very unprofessional. Then we were talking about physical therapy at home, and she said, "And who is going to pay for that?" She let him lay in his poop and she was very condescending to him. All the other nurses were excellent about taking care of him, making sure he was cleaned immediately and meeting all his needs. I am going to file a formal complaint about her.

My daughter with special needs had oral surgery here and I can't speak highly enough about the team. The Anesthesia Team, led by DR. MADIGAN was outstanding. Dr. Madigan went above and beyond to ensure my daughter had everything she needed to make the process go smoothly. Dr. Madigan also possessed a warm bedside manner. Our intake, NURSE RACHEL was also amazing and worked one on one with us. She listened to our needs and concerns to help us through. Nurse Rachel also had a warm personality and did whatever she could do to make us comfortable. This team worked well together, and I thank them very much.

Go anywhere else unless your life depends on it... "oh go to UT". DON'T THEY SUCK. Doc didnt come back after I said I couldn't walk. Idk what was up with my bill but my insurance and I were haveing a difficult time with yalls offices. Ie bill changes. The last two I spoke with were actually very helpful from the billing business department. But that's after I paid and was hit with another bill that wasnt even brought to my attention till now. Way after i left the hospital. Thats separate from the first one. Had to go to koc for them to say way more then they did and take it way more seriously... 1/3 of my bill is ut and they didnt do anything. Other then here's a boot walk out and say its broken. I almost needed surgery... Long story short go elsewhere.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can’t say enough good things about the University of Tennessee Medical Center, especially the nurses and doctors on the 11th floor. From the moment I got here, they treated me with respect, kindness, and genuine care. They made sure I wasn’t in pain, and they were the ones who finally gave me answers by diagnosing me with Crohn’s disease. They even went above and beyond to help me get my insurance back and connected me with doctors so I wouldn’t have to worry about paying out of pocket. The food staff was amazing too—always kind, making sure I had help with my meals, moving my table when needed, and even making my liquid diet as bearable as possible. The janitorial staff was just as kind, always stopping to talk with me so I didn’t feel alone. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and every single person I came across made me feel like I mattered. On top of the medical care, everyone took the time to compliment my tattoos and my purple hair, which truly lifted my spirits and made me feel like myself again. This is hands down the best hospital in Eastern Tennessee. I will absolutely return here for any future health needs. Thank you to the entire staff—you all made a difficult time so much easier.

Run as fast as you can to another hospital!!!!! What has become of our health system?! UT MEDICAL CENTER NEEDS NEW HIRING METHOD!! No hospital should have such bad reviews! It is not everyone but the majority of the nurses and staff on the floor! The 11th floor!!! It seems like if you are elderly many nurses don’t care about you because of your age!!!!! Do you think this is ELDER ABUSE?? Ok so they don’t come when you call them and their call system doesn’t work, you can’t hear what they say to you! If you have to go to the potty chair and need help..kiss it goodbye because they will let you go in the bed! And they need to get some COMPASSION! I witnessed so much UNKINDNESS including a nurse rolling her eyes! I could go on and on and they don’t even try to lift patients spirits!!!! And they have the nerve to have a sign saying "Be Kind" at the nurses station! She was on NPO with no sign in the room! And on NPO too long! On the POSITIVE side the colonoscopy team was TOP NOTCH!!!!! I would advise you to speak up about your treatment and make reviews! UPDATE: she had to go back there for surgery and didn’t make it ☹️there were also problems in ICU. I don’t want to talk about it and never want to go to this hospital ever again!! ☹️ I suggest you do lots of research for the best hospital in the area!

I just had to have an emergency C section at UT. From the moment I got out of the ambulance, to getting on the OR table, recovery, post partum, and our baby being in the NICU, we crossed paths with absolutely amazing healthcare providers. I wish I had everyone’s name, but I’ll mention the ones I remember. Lauren in recovery, Olivia in post partum, nurse Amy and Denise in the NICU, Amanda one of the lactation specialists in the NICU…absolute gems. But everyone else was too. We were so thankful to God to have been placed in such caring hands during the wildest 6 days of our lives.
