Dr. Kowalski is an amazing doctor. She is very thorough and I love her to death. However, this is the only good thing about this office and she’s only there four hours a week. I had an appointment scheduled with them for 8 AM on the coldest day of the year. I’m mistakenly went to the wrong office and so I called the Hixson office to see if people had canceled due to the weather. I was told by Kristen that my appointment had been canceled apparently in error by their new system. And that Dr. Kowalski is not even in the office on Tuesday mornings needless to say I was very unhappy. I did manage to get an appointment for two days later. I already had two appointment scheduled for that day, so it was very inconvenient. My only other choice, however, was to not get in until May. Then when I went to check out today, Kristen actually had the nerve to tell me that I was not nice to her yesterday. I feel that it is very unprofessional for her to have even mentioned it and then one of the other office staff made a comment. She then wanted to know if I was gonna make my co-pay?! Don’t think so. I called the office manager Jerry and all she did was make excuses for their actions. I will never never never never never go here again.
If I could give them 100 stars I would. They were so kind they took me on a day notice. Kevin was more than professional and kind. He offered me solutions to my basal cell. You just don’t find this kind of care anymore. The entire staff there are professionals , caring and kind. From the front desk, to the nurses and of course Kevin!
Lana checked a couple of possible problems on my legs/arms. She took samples of those, promised to get back to me if anything looked like it needed more attention. She was very nice and had a wonderful sense of humor.
I had been a patient at this dermatology practice for 5 years. Working with Amanda(shallowford) & Kevin, I always felt heard. They're wonderful! I did not feel the same openness to discussion at this last appt. In Sept. 2025 I wanted to have a chronic rash re-evaluated, one I had previously sought care for that didn't respond to multiple treatments over time. I also had mild eczema on my arm. I knew I had eaten too much dairy which caused it. I mentioned it only so it would be noted and not mistaken for the chronic rash I was there to discuss..The NP focused primarily on the eczema and recommended an injectable treatment. I explained that I was not comfortable pursuing an injection for something I understood the trigger for and could manage conservatively. I tried several times to redirect the visit toward the unresolved rash, as that was my primary concern. I also shared that I was having increasing reactions including anaphylaxis after trying multiple medications over the years, and that I was hoping for a fresh evaluation and discussion rather than immediately adding another med. In response, ‘Well, we only do Western medicine here,’ which felt dismissive of the concerns I was trying to communicate. As the interaction continued, the tone became increasingly uncomfortable. Comments were made such as, ‘The intelligent next step would be…’ when referring to the treatment I was declining, which felt condescending. My husband was present during the visit, and when he asked a question in an effort to ease the tension, the response toward him felt noticeably different. He was told, ‘That’s a SMART question,’ before receiving a thorough answer. The contrast in tone added to my discomfort. At one point I was asked, ‘Do you just want to see a dermatologist?’ to which I replied 'I thought that's why I'm here, ' I was then told she was an NP and I requested to schedule directly with the dermatologist. After the appointment, I briefly posted a review about the interaction, while also noting that my prior care with the practice had been positive. It was not intended to be punitive; in fact, I rated the experience mid-range rather than negatively. I ultimately chose to remove the review within a couple of hours, as it felt emotionally charged and I preferred to step back and give the dermatologist a chance to help me. After deleting the review, I called the office because I had begun researching autoimmune rashes and one in particular fit and I wanted to know whether this was something their practice evaluated or tested for. A nurse returned my call later that evening and stated she did not believe they tested for anything like that. The following morning, I received a call from the office manager. I was informed that the dermatologist was refusing to see me because of my review of the nurse practitioner. The reasoning gave the impression that the dismissal was retaliatory in nature. I was told that the NP Lana, was ‘highly respected’ in their field. I was also told, ‘Well, you’ve seen three providers in this practice,’ which felt as though it was being implied that I was difficult to manage or ‘doctor hopping.’ In reality, those visits occurred over time due to scheduling availability, not because of dissatisfaction or requests on my part. That conversation significantly impacted my trust in the practice and left me feeling mischaracterized. I was referred to another facility, but they did not accept my insurance, leaving me without continuity of care. Since that time, I have received a diagnosis through allergy and OB specialists of autoimmune progesterone dermatitis, a hormone-mediated condition that can closely resemble eczema but does not respond to standard dermatologic therapies. By Dec. my OB had surgery scheduled and I am now moving into the new year hopeful that I have addressed the root cause of my condition rather than continuing to only treat symptoms. I’m sharing this experience for context and patient advocacy. I hope that moving forward, patient concerns can be met with curiosity, collaboration, and respect.
Fantastic! Both Lana and her Med Tech are so friendly, kind and considerate. Very knowledgeable and Professional. Explained everything and did a very complete skin examination. All my questions answered. Few biopsies done with post biopsy instructions given. I would Highly recommend Lana for all dermatology concerns.
They have always been very kind, professional, and friendly. Dr. Goodman and the rest of the staff always seem very sincere and do and great job of trying to make you comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Very thankful for Dr. Goodman, Jocelyn, and all involved. Thank you
Dr. Tawzer is so personable! He didn’t rush and answered all questions we had. His assistant was wonderful too. Punctual since time is important as well. Couldn’t recommend him enough.
