So like others here, I likely should have read reviews but needed to see someone right away regarding 2 small areas that thought were Ringworm so I booked the first appointment I could get. I will say this, my appointment lasted 2 maybe 3 minutes. I did wonder to myself what just happened and wondering if this could be normal but did not think too much of it at first. The two areas were on my chest and left arm. Came in, no eye contact, very little conversation, I showed her the areas, literally glanced at them and before I knew it, said she was prescriping steroid cream and gave me instructions and out she went. I am not writing this to be harmful to anyone, just to be factual and perhaps a learning moment for the Dr. I felt like she was afraid to even look at me, let alone did she examine more than those 2 areas and felt very dis-engaged and not personable at all. Ok that is fine, not everyone has natural social skills but I think you have to engage your patients a bit more, ask more questions, and if I am in there for an appointment, even without a history of skin issues, it seems like doing a full examination for preventive might be in order or to catch something else. After 2 weeks, yes the 2 areas of concern subsided, no problem there. A couple weeks later after that, I started developing some different issues like a rash, hives etc in other areas of my body. Now while at the time, these conditions did not show themselves to me, perhaps what I was treated for could have been a sign of something else at play or in the early stages. I decided to look at and download the notes and was stunned to see the level of detail that was done in this examination. I asked myself, who's examination was that? Also said she used a Dermatoscope. Don't recall that at all. Said she examined my back, my abdomen, left upper extremity, right upper extremity, left hand, right hand, etc, etc...you get the idea. Seems like this report was mis-leading. In any event, seems to be consistent with some other reviews now that I go back and look at them. Perhaps would have been helpful if there was more of a pro-active approach and spent more time in the examination. We take for granted that our insurances pay for most of the exam and I have run into this now with a couple of different types of doctors that no longer invest in their patients, we become numbers to higher financial goals. Unfortunately, I would not consider returning.
The worst dermatologist I have ever seen. All of my skin concerns she replied with ‘I have no recommendation ‘. VERY disappointed will not be returning to see her.
I'm not sure who exactly is rating Dr. Kim so poorly; however, nothing from any of the 1 star reviews even remotely resonate with me. I haven't seen many dermatologists in my lifetime, so perhaps I'm not the best person in the world to write a comparative analysis... but my experience with Dr. Kim was fine as far as I'm concerned. I had a full skin exam done, and two biopsies performed (probably BCC; we'll see), and all of my questions were answered and all my needs were met. I will continue to see Dr. Kim.
Well I should have read the reviews prior to seeing Dr. Kim for a dermatology visit. Since they all seem the same exact way I was treated during my recent visit. I was a new patient and went for a full body screening. Once I was seen she never introduced herself, never asked about me or my occupation (I work outdoors) and seemed very disengaged. She rushed through the entire screening, and when I told her I worked outdoors and was concerned about a few things, she quickly dismissed them and made me feel very uncomfortable about asking questions. I do not think I was examined for more than 5-minutes. I felt very rushed and do not feel I received a proper full screening exam. Furthermore, I had some skin tags removed, and she told me that she removed (15) in total, when in fact she only removed (9). Not the end of the world, but feel she wasn’t upfront about the level of treatment. And when she was finished I was bleeding and she put ointment on the area and handed me several gauze pads and told me to simply put them on the area and left the room. I remained bleeding for several hours afterwards. And feel she could have dressed the affected area a bit better. Overall, she seemed disengaged with her patients, is discourteous and will not be returning to this practice.
After reading TG’S review I felt the need to write one myself. First, use your full name and add a photo if you want to be credible. Second, I had exactly the same exam plus removal of a squamous cell on my forearm. A body scan only takes five minutes when you’re a real pro like Dr.Kim. She could detect a problem on your skin from a mile away…she has seen it all a hundred times. Third, she is fast; lidocaine shot and snip snip for each skin tag in 5.9 seconds. She’s not doing a bypass. She is the best I have ever had, and at 70 years old I’ve had many dermatologists.
Dr. Kim diagnosed me with a kind of uncommon skin condition and contacted my other doctors to make sure that I had the right kind of care afterward. Successful and good experience.
Rude, judgmental and extremely unhelpful. I took my daughter to Dr. Kim for a burn on my daughter's leg. The appointment was a complete waist of time. Dr. Kim really offered zero help, suggestions or advise other than to never go in the sun for our entire lives. We both felt very talked down to and judged as well as frustrated because we're not sure if we are treating this burn correctly or not. As soon as I left I immediately started looking for another dr. Dr. Kim's "bed side manner" needs some serious work!
