I called to schedule an appointment as a new patient and experienced the same process described in another review. I was asked for my insurance information, then asked again to clarify the type of insurance, only to be told at the end of the call that the practice was not accepting new patients. Unfortunately, this continues to be an issue when trying to find a dermatologist in Erie. There is a clear shortage of dermatologists in the area, and many of the practices that do exist are not accepting new patients. If a practice is not taking new patients or only accepts certain insurance plans, that information should be communicated upfront to avoid wasting people’s time. The woman I spoke with was extremely rude. Staff members who represent a medical practice should be trained to communicate respectfully and professionally with patients.
Called to make an appointment as a first time patient. Receptionist to begin with answered the phone very poorly. I didn't even know if I called the right place, I had to ask. Then when I said I wanted to make an appt she asked if I had been there before. I said no. She went on to ask what kind of insurance I had, so I told her. She then asked what kind from that carrier. Which was a weird question. Never been asked that before. I let her know I didn't understand but she didn't give me any examples or clear up what she meant. I told her I found the Dr on my provider in network list. She says ok well you will just get charged if we aren't. However, she goes on to say since I can't answer her question about the insurance she will assume they don't except it instead of taking the time to explain herself and what she means. Either way, I just said, they are on my in-network list. She then! after all of that aggravation says, they aren't taking new patients. Ummm, I said I was new at the beginning of the call, you couldn't tell me that then? I very much feel she just made things up to get me off the phone because she seemed so annoyed that I called in at all. Didn't want to do her job. Very rude receptionist which does not look good for the office. I am so over business across the board not caring about customer service. I will be sure to let others know of this exchange and bad experience.
Dr. Baxter has been out of the office since March with no return date. Because of his absence, appointments are 3 months out. I am in need of a prescription refill but I can’t get one until my next scheduled appointment that is 3 months out because it is his policy. I understand this policy for many reasons, but because of extenuating circumstances like Covid, and his personal absence, you figure exceptions could be made in certain instances. It does not make common sense to me that he rather have one of his patients go without medicine for 3 months. (Just so you know, this is the same medicine I have been on for several years now with no change) I’m done with this place, WORST Doctor I have ever encountered. Bordering on malpractice!!! I understand he has no idea of my experience today, but it is his practice and I’m his patient so he is responsible ultimately. GARBAGE!
It is almost impossible to get in contact with them by phone. The ramp in back for disabled patients is a deathtrap. I was afraid it would fall apart beneath us.
I've been seeing Dr. Baxter since my teen years and I'm now 40. He is compassionate, understanding, and easy to talk with. As a licensed health professional myself, I appreciate the time he spends with me. I refer my patients to Dr. Baxter because of his expertise, experience, and bed side manner.
Been going to Dr Baxter office for 13 years always paid out of pocket. Then I'm notified they can not see me anymore, then blame it on my insurance doesn't make sense to me when I always pay up front
