I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this practice and feel compelled to share my experience due to ongoing issues with professionalism, negligence, medical competency, and billing transparency. I was seen at two of their office locations- this being one of them. During my initial visit, I asked a provider for simple recommendations for non-aluminum deodorant, as I have a known aluminum sensitivity. Shockingly, the provider demonstrated little to no knowledge on the topic and actually recommended a higher-strength aluminum product, despite aluminum being the exact substance I explained I am allergic to. This lack of basic knowledge and patient listening was concerning and left me questioning the level of education and care at this practice. I was seen again at the practice for a simple cyst removal procedure. During the procedure, they did not provide me with enough numbing and I felt much more of the procedure than I should have, or would have liked. After the procedure, several of the stitches that were put in my arm came loose, despite me following directions not to lift anything heavy or strain it in any way. When I returned to have my stitches removed, Dr Cox was very condescending to me and made it seem like it was my fault that all the stitches came loose. At this procedure I brought two people with me (due to my history of fainting) and warned the doctor that I have a history of fainting. At the follow up visit after the stitch procedure, despite the previous warning of my history of fainting, I was left alone and unmonitored, was not warned that fainting was a possible risk, and I subsequently fainted while still in the exam room. As a result, I had significant facial lacerations and required additional stitches and medical treatment. That injury later became infected, requiring lab work and antibiotics. At the time, I was explicitly told that I would not be charged for the visit or the resulting care. Despite this, I am now being billed for these services. What is most frustrating is that I have been trying to contact the office manager regarding these charges for THREE MONTHS, with no response. I have called the office, billing department, left messages, and attempted to follow up multiple times by phone AND email without success. The complete lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. Between the poor medical guidance, failure to monitor a patient after a procedure, and the ongoing billing and communication issues, I have lost all confidence in this practice. The lack of professionalism, negligence and follow-through has been deeply disappointing. I was seen by Johnathon Cox and Jane McAskill. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this practice to think carefully and advocate for themselves, especially when it comes to post-procedure care and billing clarity.
Easy in, easy out, efficient and friendly service. Helpful reminders and easy to schedule for next year's appointment. I recommend working with Kendra O'Connor. Thank you for the great experience!
Was referred here by my PCP to get a nodule/cyst looked at that was growing on my arm. Luckily they were able to get me in pretty quickly to take a look. They were with me for a total of about 90 seconds, looked at my arm and told me that it appeared to be under the skin and that it wasn't a dermatology issue and referred me back to my PCP and said I should get imaging (but couldn't refer me to imaging). This 90 second visit cost me $122, or so I thought. I got my EOB back from my insurance about this claim and my co-pay should've only been $45, billed to me by my insurance. I called billing and they forwarded my call to the office who then said to call back billing. They both claim they can't see my EOB (despite my insurance saying it's in their provider portal). Eventually I talked to someone in billing, who said they COULD see my EOB, and they said I actually had the CREDIT in my account and then sent me a new number to talk to someone who could help me get it refunded which should be done automatically if overcharged. The next person then contradicted the last person said they didn't have the EOB yet and I'd have to call back when (no timeline) to REQUEST my refund, which is my money and should be refunded automatically. The kicker of this whole thing is I went and got imaging and turns out IT IS a derm issue and another dermatology office is helping me get it removed. A total waste of my time for a misdiagnosis and an overcharge. Avoid at all costs. Still waiting to get my money back too.
I absolutely recommend Cara Mia Dermatology, specifically Leeann Kuehn! It was very easy to set up an appointment (same day, even), and the front desk was kind and efficient. They were quite busy, yet Leeann answered all my questions without any sense of rush or impatience. She has a wonderful and respectful demeanor and I would highly recommend her to people looking for a dermatologist. For those who think about this too—parking and navigating to the office inside the building were very easy!!
This is for an annual body exam. I met with Leeann Kuehn who conducted herself with a polite and professional demeanor. Answering any questions I had and giving a good overview of observations. The rest of the staff was also professional and pleasant to be around.
Friendly staff. The doctor was pleasant. My card was charged 3 times for one appointment. The nice receptionist called and let me know what had happened. Went back and forth with the billing department. They're now mailing me a paper check for the amount they owed me back, instead of easily crediting my card. Who's mailing paper refund checks in 2025? Now they're saying i owe for the same appointment that they overcharged me for. And upon reviewing my bill today, I'm being charged $50 for a missed appointment that I previously called to cancel. Calling in and getting to the right people was chaotic. And on top of all this, my stitches after my procedure got infected, of which I was extremely careful with. Now on antibiotics for that. Honestly, just not a great experience and won't be returning or recommending.
I scheduled the appointment through my insurance provider; after the visit I was informed that I’ll only be charged a co-pay of $22.79 which I have already paid. A month later they sent me a bill of additional $108! No explanation, nothing. This is unacceptable and we will never use their services again.
