Academic Alliance in Dermatology - Countryside

I had a very disappointing experience here. My appointment was scheduled for 3:20, and I arrived early at 3:12. Check-in was smooth, and my initial interactions with the staff and nurse were friendly and professional. I was brought to the room right on time, asked to change, and told the doctor would be in shortly. Unfortunately, 40 minutes later, no one had come in. At that point, I got dressed and left. It was clear they were overbooked and had little regard for patient time. When I asked about a refund, the scheduler at the front desk responded with a condescending tone, reminding me my appointment was at 3:20. I pointed out it was now 4:05, and her only response was, "Well, there are patients in front of you." That dismissive attitude was the final straw. I’ll be looking for a new dermatologist for my annual skin check. If you don’t mind a free-clinic/train-station type vibe, this location might work for you. But if you value your time and want to be treated with respect, I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere.

This was my first time at allegiance Dermatology. It was a pleasure to check in and I didn’t wait long, approx. 5 minutes to be seen for my appointment which is rare in the healthcare industry. The staff and the doctor were very professional and explained everything in detail. I would definitely recommend this dermatologist. I have been to a few others in the area and none Come close to the service I received here. Plus, the location was very easy to get to and parking was a pleasure knowing a few steps to the front door.

Been going here for years, but today I went to my appointment and the doors were locked. No one called. In fact, when I called to find out if the office closed down, I was told that I should’ve got a text. The tone was like it was my fault. I only got a text with my appointment confirmation. The portal showed errors. Oh well - guess that’s that.

This is undoubtedly the worst referral and worst dermatology office I have ever interacted with. I had a suspicious spot biopsied and was told I would be called with the results and treatment recommendations. Four days after the pathology results were in my patient portal, I called them to ask about the next step, and was rudely told that I didn't need to be called, there was no next step, the biopsy was the treatment. This was in direct contrast to what Dr. Becker had communicated to me and furthermore only about a third of the lesion had been biopsied. I am now receiving proper treatment for my precancerous condition from another dermatologist and sincerely hope no one ever goes to Alliance with anything remotely serious only to be dismissed and ignored.

They took care of my problem immediately and did not charge me an arm and leg Dr. Kenneth Becker was very kind and gentle thank you so much! 😌

If you want a great dermatologist, go here, everyone is so professional, and answers all of my concerns. Gets me right in on time, and a pleasure to be seen by this dermatologist!

My teenager has been experiencing some treatment-resistant acne, for which her pediatrician referred her to dermatology after exhausting the usual suspects of medication combos. My kiddo has been to a couple of previous (male) providers who just didn't make her feel comfortable, or like she was part of the treatment plan being discussed. We ended up seeing Semhar Mekonen, APRN, with Academic Alliance in Dermatology in Countryside, and couldn't be happier! She was very kind and understanding, and we really felt like we had a tx plan in place moving forward. My kiddo is also 17 and able to go to her checkups solo if needed.
