I have been going to Dr. Pickup for years and have been getting routine skin check ups. At 74, I have plenty of age related 'barnacles'. This year the tiniest, head of a pin size, discoloration caught her eye. It turned out to be a melanoma. I went to an oncologist surgeon that Dr. Pickup chose and had it removed. Because it was caught so early with Dr. Pickups xray vision no other treatment is needed. I credit her for being one of the best.

Dr. Pickup has vast knowledge of all things dermatology. She provides sound advice with treatment plans, options, and solutions. She is dedicated to her work, patients, practice, staff, and most importantly helping people.

Called to schedule a visit. Since I have not been seen in 3 years I would be considered a new patient. This puts me in a category to be seen after I am dead of skin cancer. I am not blaming the doctor, scheduler, or insurance company. I will say our USA medical system is broken much like our education system. Call back to schedule my appointment in case I did not die before getting in. They wanted a credit card AND the security code of card to schedule the appointment. Clearly life has passed me by as now you have to provide payment to schedule services even though you have Insurance Coverage. I will try another doctor.

Doctor was recommended by my doctor. Waited 5 months to get into see her. Checked with scheduler to make sure they took our insurance (Anthem) at the time of my booking. Went in this AM and they said they wouldn’t take my insurance. Wanted $70 up front and they would bill my card the balance of approximately $250. Receptionists told me it was my responsibility to check with my insurance company not theirs. I told her they should tell that to the scheduler. The receptionist was rather short with me and I doubt that she will give feedback to their scheduler so that others don’t have the same experience.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Pickup and have to continuously advocate to be seen for our medical dermatology needs. Previous dermatologists told us to be seen annually for our skin checks and Dr. Pickup told me that was not necessary. Now in order to be seen, I have to book a "new patient appointment" which has extended the wait for an appointment. It appears that this practice is more focused on cosmetic dermatology and we have decided to find a new practice.

Dr. Pickup has been our Dr. for years. She is wonderful and always has a smile. She is so smart in her field. Her office staff is always friendly and kind. They have everything a patient is looking for. Kudos to everyone.
