Customer Reviews
Northwestern Medicine Dermatology SoNo has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on over 16 reviews on Google
My experiences with Northwestern’s dermatology department have been disappointing primarily due to scheduling issues. Appointments consistently run 60+ minutes late without explanation or updates. While the medical care itself may be competent, the disrespect for patients’ time undermines the overall experience. I’d encourage the department to either schedule fewer patients or communicate delays proactively. Patients deserve better than waiting rooms that feel like endurance tests.
I can't believe the negative reviews for Dr. Hung. I saw him for the first time last month because I was having symptoms of heart problems/dizziness. I was in his office speaking with him for literally 35 minutes. He was extremely thorough asking so many questions and testing my gait in many manners. He immediately gave me paperwork for referrals with all information. It was so simple to make the appointments since everything was already ordered on his end. He was genuinely interested in helping me. I would refer him to all of my loved ones.
Dr. Sam Hung is amazing. He is thorough, attentive, and caring. He is definitely one of the best docs I’ve been to.
My family comes here for both my General Practitioner and my son's Pediatrician. He is now 16 so this review is about his pediatrician Dr. Peter Hwan and just to be certain people are not confusing him with Dr. Sam Hung with negative reviews below we have never met him so I can not speak to that and he is not a pediatrician. Dr. Hwan (pediatrics) is awesome and a really great choice for your growing son baby to adolescent to teen. We have also seen Dr. Martin another great doctor for your son as they approach puberty and you want them to have a Male doctor. My son has seen other female doctors here to and no complaints all great. But I wanted to leave a review for those with boys approaching puberty because boy parts examinations happen and teenage boys are awkward. I have never had a communication problem with the Adult practice or pediatrics they have always been extremely accommodating and polite. I switched insurance so I could stay here when they stopped taking my company. Don't listen to the negative people below. The practice is fantastic, parking easy.
Do not waste your time with doctor Sam T Hung. I've had better experiences at an urgent care or cvs minute clinic. He prescribed me antibiotics without knowing for sure if I had strep. Told me in 2-3 days he would call with results and let me know whether to keep taking them or not? I NEVER heard back from this office and it has been two weeks. I took matters into to my own hands within 3 days of now follow up response. Visited another doctor not with Northwestern and I was actually diagnosed with a different, more extreme virus and the antibiotics made my symptoms even worse. I've been down for about 2 weeks now with an itchy rash covering my whole body. This guy wants to get you in and out and does not listen to you when you are speaking. Interrupts and tells you what he thinks you mean.Do not go here looking for quality care, stay away. Sam Hung does not care to examine your unique symptoms.
I recently moved to the area and took my newborn daughter to go see a pediatrician at this facility. I had heard great things about Northwestern and I was not disappointed. We saw Dr. Hwan and he did an awesome job at explaining everything. Very polite and professional! (5 stars for Dr. Hwan!!) Dr. Hwan recommended I see a lactation consultant after I mentioned I was struggling with breastfeeding. I didn't have the opportunity of meeting with a lactation consultant at the hospital after having the baby since it was over the weekend. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. I met with Claire, one of their lactation consultants, the next day at the same facility. Now mind you I had seen Dr. Hwan the day before so he had set the bar high on quality care. Well, she may look the part but she is far from helpful. Claire came in to say Hi and asked if a student could be in the room. I didn't have a problem with that but I didn't think the student would be there in place of Claire. Claire left the room and the student asked me quite a few questions, I'm sure it was part of the assessment. Claire came in after to review my answers at least that's what I thought. She skimmed over a few of my answers and when I told her I had a list of questions I wanted to ask she said "sure, but we'll do that at the end". she said the baby was losing weight and wanted to know how much she was eating by weighing before and then after nursing. My breasts were so engorged and I was in extreme pain. She ignored the fact I was in pain and asked me to feed the baby. She left the room once again while I nursed the baby. I wanted to cry at this point because I didn't really understand what was going on and I felt extremely let down by someone who was supposed to help me (on top of all the other emotions I was feeling from just having a baby). After the feeding session, Claire told me the baby wasn't getting enough milk and bc of this I would have to supplement with formula. She handed me a piece of paper that went over breastfeeding, handed me samples of formula and sent me on my way. Oh and she recommended fenugreek, a supplement that helps with milk production, after I had mentioned I was possibly allergic to peanuts. Note: You are NOTsupposed to take that when you have a peanut allergy. Overall just terrible care. She would NOT be training students!! (1 star for Claire) I was very discouraged after leaving and almost gave up on breastfeeding. Thank God I have an amazing husband. After he saw how emotionally stressed I was about the situation he had a private lactation consultant come out to our place. She was wodnerdul!! Judy made a proper assessment, helped me establish a better routine, had my ob/gyn call a prescription for my cracked nipples, and was very hands on to help me learn proper breastfeeding techniques. She did say the baby would need to supplement with formula but we came up with a game plan to have baby exclusively breastfed. I was able to regulate a good amount of milk production after about 2 weeks of a good routine. Went back to work but baby is still exclusively on breast milk. I wrote all of this because I know there may be another person who may feel just as I did and I'd like for that person to know that there are professionals who take their job seriously and will go above and beyond to help you during such a difficult transition. You just have to find the right person for the job.
I’ve had appointments with Dr. Hung, Sacvic, and Shultz and all were excellent. Dr. Schultz is my main doctor and is absolutely stellar - she really gets to know her patients and never makes you feel like you’re being rushed out of the room.
