Dr. Kotz is very thorough and extremely knowledgeable, I feel most confident that I'm under the best care. The staff is very polite, friendly, and they always process me in and out quickly. I definitely recommend Carolina Dermatology!
Highly recommend this practice. Dr. Kotz came into the room with a professional yet approachable attitude. He found 2 spots on my husband that required further treatment. My husband was diagnosed with melanoma. Had Dr Kotz not been aggressive in his treatment and referral my husband would have gone untreated. Dr. Kotz and his staff saved my husband's life. That's more than 5 stars.
This is a great practice that serves my whole family. On this particular visit, they worked me in on a half day (Friday) when my provider was off. It was quite a busy morning for them, as I saw when I got there! But Dr. Kotz saw me quickly, timely, and very helpful with my issue. I recommend this practice frequently! Thank you!
Excellent care is provided by Dr. Kotz, Amanda and all the staff. Very professional. I have been a client for 10+ years after my former dermatologist retired.
I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Kotz and his staff. When I schedule an appointment they see me when they say they will see me. The staff is polite and proficient, and Dr Kotz has an amazing bedside manner! I wish my primary care doctor was this understanding and easy to work with!
I've lived in Charleston all my life and have encountered many of the local dermatologist offices for my skin issues. Carolina Dermatology has been the most efficient and patient forward office I've ever visited. All of the staff are great and with Dr.Kotz as Captain....this ship runs smooth! Patient for over 5 years now.
I cannot completely put into words my disappointment with my experience with this practice. I'm writing now, months after my visit, in hopes of it changing for someone else. The summation of my experience is being out $300 and a dermatologist not actually even looking at my skin. I went to Carolina Dermatology for hair loss coupled with a very irritated, red, painful scalp. The day of my visit, when I did finally see the dermatologist, she stood 4ft from me on the other side of the room asking me the usual questions about diet, lifestyle, etc. I'd brought all hair products I use in case she wanted to see those, but she didn't. I'd told her this has been happening on and off for well over a year, and that I had blood work done with my doctor that came up normal. She asked if I'd been stressed, to which I replied, "yes, but who isn't?" From that moment on she decided it was telogen effluvium and again, did not even come to actually look at my scalp. I asked her about the itching, pain, and redness to which her response was, "I'll write you something for that" and to get my doctor to do blood work... blood work we've already done. ...zero discussion as far as the what it was she was writing, how to use it, or even why. A few days later I called back to tell them the steroid RX they wrote for me was giving me bumps on my scalp and making things worse. The woman who answered the phone told me to stop taking it and that the doc would call me to discuss. She did. 3 days later... to tell me to take a picture... after I'd spent 3 days not using the steroid. Overall, I'm irritated. It makes me wonder if it's because I don't have insurance if that's why they refused to help me or treat me like I wasn't there the same as everyone else. Or maybe this lackadaisical attitude is standard for the practice? Between the RX I apparently didn't need and the office fee, I was out $300 with no answers. I've since seen a different dermatologist and gotten an actual answer about what was going on.
