Dr. Matthew J. Mahlberg, MD

June 2025: I was referred to Colorado Center for Dermatology & Skin Surgery for an infiltrative basal cell carcinoma in my scalp. It required four passes of MOHS to get all the cancer out. I was properly numbed each time they had to go back for more, so I felt nothing but some tugging. When I was cancer-free, I was left with a silver dollar sized hole in my head down to my skull. An esthetician came into the room to shave my head around the incision, with the single goal of minimizing hair loss. Dr Mahlberg expertly closed the wound with a 5 inch incision that came down into my forehead & extended back into my scalp. The entire MOHS experience was that of a well orchestrated medical team, working cohesively together. On my two week check up, they removed the stitches, and I expressed my concern with scaring. It was a huge incision running down the middle of my head. Dr Marburg looked me in the eye confidently and said: "the scar will disappear." January 2026: The scar disappeared. I followed all of their post MOHS treatment and went a step further to buy silicon gel pads which I wore as many hours a day as I could. It’s absolutely incredible how such a significant incision became a nearly invisible scar. My hair is slowly growing back. I cannot speak more highly of Dr Mahlberg’s skills. I’ve had MOHS before and those scars are still very visible and wide. Dr Mahlberg must be part magician. Don’t hesitate to book your MOHS surgery with him!

I took my 92 year old mom to Dr. Mahlberg. She had a cancer on her face and was very worried about being disfigured by the treatment to remove the cancer. Dr. Mahlberg was very kind during the appointment and brainstormed on the fly to come up with the perfect solution. He was able to perform a simple procedure during this same visit that was highly effective at removing the cancer with no scarring. I'm super grateful!

I am several months overdue in writing this review — I have been to many dermatologists over the years (very important to get those skin checks, especially in Colorado!) and Dr. Mahlberg is one of the best I've ever encountered. Many providers do a really careless job with mole checks. Not Dr. Mahlberg. He was extremely thorough in both his examination and in answering any and all questions I had. His bedside manner was impeccable, and he was very amiable. I will seek out his expertise again in the future!

When a doctor found skin cancer on my face and said I would need surgery, I was horrified –I did not want scars on my face like Frankenstein. However, when I met with Dr. Mahlberg he explained that the surgery was not going to be as bad as I was imagining. Dr. Mahlberg took the time to address my vanity concerns, explained the procedure and recommended future treatment ideas to limit potential surgeries in the future. He also took the time to figure out which direction to make the incision so that it would simply look like a little line on my forehead. Dr. Mahlberg welcomed my after-hours phone calls when I had questions about my post-op care which I really appreciated. My scar has healed beautifully and in fact, is hardly recognizable just a couple of months later. Dr. Mahlberg was professional, kind and extremely knowledgeable in addition to being a highly skilled and trained surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Mahlberg and have referred my husband and co-workers to him as well.

Dr. Mahlberg is fantastic! When I talk to him, he listens carefully to what I am saying, and always responds by explaining my options in a way that is easy to understand. He also gets results - my issue was resolved a few days after my visit. His staff are great as well, they always makes me feel comfortable. I always recommend Dr. Mahlberg to my family and friends.

I've had dermal fillers before, but never experienced the results I saw from Dr. Mahlberg! I cannot express how happy I am with the difference in my appearance. My friends and family say I look 10 years younger. The thing that impressed me the most, was that I had virtually no bruising! Dr. Mahlberg does not rush, is thoughtful and careful in placing the product and creates a wonderfully calm, relaxing atmosphere. The office itself is lovely and his team members are warm and welcoming. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give them a 15!
