I am disappointed with my experience due to unexpected billing. I visited the doctor in December 2025 and paid $178 in cash since I don’t have insurance. I was told this would be my final bill. However, in January 2026, I received an additional bill for $46, which was unexpected and confusing. No additional services or procedures were performed beyond a simple checkup. Clear communication about costs would have been appreciated.

Yesterday was my second time there and again, so impressed by the welcoming of the front desk staff. The nurses and doctors are just as warm and welcoming. Both times was seen quickly and in and out in no time. Doctors took their time with me in both occasions and explained my treatment options. Was on the fence switching from my previous dermatologist that I have seen for over 20 years and could not be happier!

I’m giving this practice 3 stars, and it would be 5 stars if I hadn’t experienced what I did recently. Here is my explanation: I’ve been on birth control since August 2024. I’ve struggled with hormonal acne for a couple years and it really affected my self esteem. I tried lots of things before — Accutane (in high school), pimple patches, clindamycin, tretinoin, all sorts of creams and cleansers, etc. Nothing has ever helped my hormonal acne like birth control did. It literally took a few weeks for me to notice a few changes, and I felt amazing! My skin is so much clearer now after over a year, and most of my major scarring has faded from the extra help of otc creams. I was prescribed Tri-estarylla by Dr. Heffernan, I believe, last August. Everything was great — I was given helpful tips on skincare routine and all my questions and concerns were answered. Then this year, my prescriber was switched to Rachel Serrano. Everything with her was fine and dandy until this week. I had realized my pharmacy was sending me notifications that the Tri-estarylla wasn’t being filled by my prescriber. It said they had reached out to Rachel twice, but no response. I’m on my last month’s supply of birth control, and I was getting very anxious because I did not want to run out. I reached out to Rachel through the patient portal, and her response to my request for the refill was ridiculoud, to say the least. She had suggested that I rely on my primary care doctor or OBGYN for now on, for the birth control, because she wasn’t comfortable prescribing it any longer… her explanation was basically that she was "comfortable prescribing birth control while I was still on Accutane," but now that I’m not taking Accutane with the birth control, she wants me to switch to my primary care doctor for long-term birth control …? First of all, I haven’t taken Accutane since I was in HIGH SCHOOL. It has been like 7-9 years since I’ve taken it. Second, there was never any issue with her prescribing the birth control this whole time I’ve been on it, so why now?? To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Rachel’s "explanation," if I can even call it that, is just unfair. I will be switching to Dr. Soderberg, or Heffernan, as my little sister has been Soderberg’s patient and apparently he has been extremely helpful, and I have never heard anything bad about him. I don’t have anything against this practice as a whole — in fact this practice is much better than the one I used to visit and I never had any issues here — but my recent experience with Rachel Serrano has definitely justified my current review. I like visiting here, but right now I’m just really disappointed. Thanks.

I’m not sure if I am the only one who experiences this, but I have yet to have a visit here where I leave satisfied and everything is well organized. Each appointment I have had, they forget to complete forms upon visit, do not pick up the phone when trying to inquire, and do not take accountability for errors. Strongly considering in changing dermatologists, this is getting exhausting and quite vexing. I would like to say the staff is all amiable and pleasant, however the lack of organization is unprofessional.

I’m so disappointed to be posting this. However, I went in Thursday morning for an appointment and was told I would get a prescription. I went to my pharmacy and they said one was never placed. So I have called and left voicemails and sent a message on the portal. I’ve heard nothing now the following Monday evening. I feel like my time and money was wasted with my appointment.

After an unpleasant experience with another Dermatology office, I decided to try Forefront Dermatology, Cary office. The office is extremely clean, bright and welcoming. Danielle at the front desk is very professional and friendly and went above and beyond to assist me with my referral and obtaining an appointment. Rachel Serrano, PA and her assistant were amazing: friendly, caring, thorough with my skin cancer annual screening and listened to all my concerns. I cannot praise this practice enough and so very happy to be a new and continuing patient here; I will be bringing my teens here too. I highly recommend Forefront for all your dermatology needs.

Dr. Soderberg is extremely attentive, always carefully listens to his patient, and eager to help. Would definitely recommend this practice.
