Derick Dermatology - Arlington Heights has a rating of 4.8 out of 5 based on over 901 reviews on Google
I presented with several ‘sun spots’ a few years back. I was offered a bleaching cream and retinol, which I used regularly and then sporadically, with little improvement. I sought out laser last week and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. What I liked about the experience is that they started conservatively, and never pushed the more aggressive treatment. Once I had decided on laser, the consultation and treatment was done expeditiously and professionally.
On I was pleased to get an appointment right away. The doctor and assistant were friendly and explained everything to me. Dr did a biopsy on this first visit. Dr told me verbally how to care for the wound. Later I received online written directions on how to care for wounds from different procedures. A week later I received online test results from the Lab, with findings of positive cancer cells. Called for appointment and was told the Dr had not looked at the test yet and I had to wait to make appointment after he would look at the test results. Not too happy with that considering we are looking at malignant cells ( described on test as invasive)😳. Dr and staff were great and friendly. . —this is a review of a second procedure performed by Dr.Sheehan, assisted by Chloe. I am so grateful to Dr Sheehan for her expertise. Painless excise of cancerous cells, and the neatest sewn stitches I have ever seen. I am still in recovery, but I am doing well so far. Chloe was also caring, with delicate hands, assisting the Dr. Hopefully my scar will not zig zag on my cheek, after all stitches are gone. I am happy those cancerous cells have been taking out.
I made an appointment with them but canceled it because, in the days following my having made an appointment, my email and text messaging both got absolutely FLOODED with advertisements from them! I mean FLOODED! They were all advertisements for expensive vitamin supplements and some sort of Star Wars type treatments. My gut got me to thinking and I decided to look them up for lawsuits. Sure enough, there were a bunch of recovered lawsuits against them. A Dermatologist that my PCP recommended suddenly add an appointment open up so I decided to cancel my appointment with Derick. I've never even seen them before and my appointment was for tomorrow. They told me that they are going to charge me a late cancellation fee and I told them that I'M CHARGING A FEE FOR PESTERING THE CRAP OUT OF ME WITH JUNK MAIL AND TEXT MESSAGES ABOUT VERY EXPENSIVE VITAMIN TREATMENTS, SUPPLEMENTS, AND STAR WARS TYPE TREATMENTS, etc. When I called to cancel they weren't even remotely concerned with WHY I was canceling. They just quickly said that they're going to charge me a fee for it which is when I told them that I'm charging THEM a fee for their overwhelming advertisements flooding my email and text. It finally occurred to me that they are more interested in making money off of their supplements and Star Wars type treatments been treating the patient. Furthermore, I looked up whether or not it's ethical for a dermatologist office to be sending all types of advertisements before a patient has even been seen and it said that this is common practice amongst UNETHICAL dermatologists who are more interested in selling products than treating patients, according to the American Medical Association. Trust your gut. Mine was right.
Derick Dermatology in Arlington Heights is great! the front desk staff are very sincere. The office is spotless always! And the PA's are very knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend this office.
The team at Derrick Dermatology was very helpful and straight to the point. I enjoyed my visit and their flexibility with timing is also very helpful with work and other things in life.
This was my first and last time using their services. Before my visit, I called their finance department and clarified the exact cost of my visit, as I was paying out of pocket. When I arrived, I checked again at reception and with the doctor directly. They took one sample and visually checked my legs. It took 15 minutes maximum. Later, we agreed on everything, and I paid the agreed amount of $360.Later they allegedly sent my tests to a third party organization to check my test (without my consent) and they sent me another check to pay for services that I did not mention $150. Later I called them and told them about it, they said there was a mistake, I misunderstood everything, and they couldn't help. I was very disappointed with my visit to this clinic. People have a hard time making money and they charge extra services to get a bigger check from you.
My family and I have been loyal patients at Derick Dermatology for the past 4 years, but we will not be returning. I recently had an appointment that I arrived 10 minutes late for — still within their stated 15-minute grace period. When I arrived, there was only one receptionist at the front desk assisting another patient. I waited in line, and by the time a second receptionist arrived and checked me in, the system showed I was past the 15-minute cutoff — but that delay was due entirely to understaffing, not my actual arrival time. Despite this, and despite Dr. Thompson being aware that I had arrived within the grace period, he still refused to see me. I had driven 50 minutes to attend an appointment that had been scheduled for over a year, and I was ultimately turned away because of circumstances out of my control. Even worse, I wasn’t informed of any issue right away. Instead, I was left sitting in the waiting room for 50 minutes before being told that Dr. Thompson had decided he would not see me. This experience made it clear that Derick Dermatology does not value the time or loyalty of its patients. We will be taking our care elsewhere.
