Urology Clinic at Taubman Center

My son keeps getting referred here for incontinence & urology issues. The doctor has a horrible bedside manner and simply prescribes meds. It's a wasted 90 minute trip every 6 months because the meds don't work, they don't know why, and he's horrible to my son. What a terrible experience for a little boy. I wish there were more options for pediatric urologists. The big blue "M" isn't what it uses to be. And the people who work there act entitled to it.

I came here about 4 years ago I’m in no better shape then I was before I came if anything worse. The nephrologist’s at the Brighton Center is about the most idiotic Doctor you could go to literally Google things in front of you because he has no clue how to treat you. He had me on four potassium chloride, which I was always red flagged by my pharmacy ended up in sparrow ER had to restart my heart twice because of this they told me way too much potassium then. my urologist I haven’t seen in probably two years. I text the nurse hoping for answers from her to guide me in the right direction and I always get stupid response from her. I am in literally the emergency room or surgery three or four times a year with kidney stones granted I know I have a rare condition is what they tell me first they tell me I can take tums. No you can’t take Tums you have sponge kidneys no, you don’t have sponge kidneys. Meanwhile, they just love billing my insurance over and over again. I still don’t have a specialist because obviously I’m not gonna go to the one and only one they have in Brighton. my post surgery appointment that I just had a couple weeks ago here in February is in April. I called to see if I can change the time because you know I have to work to pay these bills they keep throwing at me they make it May something like the end of May really and that’s when I’m supposed to talk to somebody about a new specialist wow I told the lady by then. I’ll probably be dead. Nobody cares here. You talk to the financial department, they say I make way too much money, but it also sounds like somebody talking from their home office, which probably is how it is very generic doesn’t sound professional sounds like you can hear him talk to his Bestie in the background. I literally just text through the portal nurse Trudy and asked her. What am I supposed to do? I’m extremely depressed over this. I am hurting. I am so upset mentally and emotionally financially because they just are trying to pacify me and her response to me is I don’t know what kind of help you are looking for. Seriously maybe some doctors that know what the hell they’re doing or at least care as I have to sit and listen to the recorder that talks about how great U of M is I’m sorry, but it’s bullshit oh, and let’s not forget when I was in the hospital when they I had to restart my heart twice. I also got septic because they did surgery on me while I had a UTI. That was Lansing urology and that was at sparrow, but they’re all related right

Don't pay attention to people who either don't prepare appropriately for their appointments ahead of time by bringing previous documentation or a list of questions. This Urology Department is voted one of the TOP in the NATION! This IS one of the top hospitals in the nation for a reason. Link your records so they're available & you'll save yourself time. Write a list of questions for the Dr. ANY Dr. Anywhere. They aren't mind readers & do need to go over previous history to make appropriate decisions & save time. Just like anywhere. This Urology Department is fabulous. Take a breath. Focus. Don't blame the desk staff for asking questions. This department saved me from having 2 unnecessary sugeries that 2 other urologists from Beaumont tried to force me to have, while during covid shut down & being an immune compromised cancer patient!! 3rd opinion is a charm. (Beaumont/ Corewell is a disaster & tried to scare me into unneeded sugeries by telling me that "my kidneys were shutting down! & then they said... So what...people live with one kidney all the time!" Wrong!)** U of M saved me. 4 years later & still NO SURGERY NEEDED! Have run multiple tests to watch for changes. Yes, it's hard to get an appt., but when you do, they are amazing. You will NOT get better health care anywhere in the state. Providence Ascension is awesome too.... U of M is the BEST & voted appropriately for years!

🚨🚨🚨 🚨🚨🚨 🚨🚨🚨 Dr." Yooni Blair is, by far, one of the absolute worst narcissistic "doctors" I've ever come across in my entire life & I've had the misfortune of dealing with narcissistic "doctors" for decades. Chip on her shoulder and an all-around lousy attitude. My girlfriend & I had to do her job for her by trying to brainstorm different ways she could help me & all she responded with was "Well, let me throw it back to you and ask, how could I do that?" I'm sorry but aren't YOU supposed be the doctor here? Why are you asking us? It's already bad enough that U of M completely botched my surgery & I'm left disfigured & in pain but now we have to do your job for you while you sit there doing absolutely nothing. And, like any good narcissist, she takes it as disrespect or stepping on her toes. Be at least a halfway decent doctor that does their job & you wouldn't have to worry about people doing it for you. Needless to say, nothing got done for me after U of M botched my surgery so now I am stuck with pain & a deformity. This seems to be a pattern with U of M considering I started going to this lousy place 10 years ago FOR AN ISSUE I STILL HAVE because U of M is not worried about their patients because the vast majority of ALL of their staff, from students all the way up to executives, only care about making money. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT PATIENTS LIVES. The reputation of U of M is based solely on propaganda because none of their facilities have good reviews from actual patients. My so-called PCP, "Dr." Nisonger-Murphy never bothered to tell me one of my tests years ago revealed I have a type of Asthma. She revealed it during an appointment just as an after thought and I was shocked because I'm old enough to remember a time when doctors actually talked to their patients, right away, when something significant like Asthma was found in their tests. According to her "The way U of M does it is they just put it in your patient portal." and I guess patients just have to find it themselves. Are these really the new generation of "doctors" coming out of medical school now? Stuck-up, narcissistic, sociopaths who are arrogant enough to tell you in one breath no on knows your body better than you while then proceeding to tell you you're mistaken about what's going on with your own body. And the so-called "patient advocates" are only there to make sure the hospital is not liable for anything it can be sued for. That's it. Their job is to cover the hospital's tracks for them in case of a screw up. They do not work for the patients they work for who pays them and that is U of M. ADVICE: If you choose to see any doctor at any of the facilities belonging to U of M take a witness with you and record them. These people do not care about anything or anyone except themselves and their money. Start naming these bad "doctors" so people will know who to avoid if they feel it necessary to go to U of M. BETTER ADVICE: Steer clear of U of M at all cost. They are frauds & their reputation is based on good PR. Nothing more.

Have had a hard time making an appointment. Literally wait for 30 minutes on the phone to be told they don't have any availability. I perviously went to the U of M ER due to an issue I was having. I was then told I needed to see a Urologist ASAP after my trip to the ER. I still haven't been able to get in. The level of care I received in the ER was great. Although my personal experience wasn't the most pleasant. The staff made me as comfortable as possible given the the circumstances I had.

DO NOT go here if you have Peyronie’s Disease. DO NOT see Dana Ohl. He is the absolute worst urologist. My family will be filing a lawsuit against U of M urology because of his incompetence, extreme neglect and malpractice. Dana Ohl destroyed my life, refused to do surgery when it should of been done because of my age even when surgery was necessary and now it’s too late. Because of him I will never be able to get married or have children or a family. His extreme neglect destroyed my life. I’d suggest if you have Peyronie’s disease go absolutely anywhere else other than Dana Ohl. Absolutely, the worst mistake of my life.

Today was one of the worst doctor experiences I've witnessed. My husband has been dealing with an ongoing issue that we have sought doctor after doctor who could not figure out what is wrong with him. When we were finally referred to U of M we thought we would finally be on a path with real passion to help and find out the problem. Actually do the work to investigate the issue. Instead based on a verbal retelling and a physical examination of everywhere AROUND the problem area. The doctor dismissed my husband's claims instead questioned his nervousness when being palpated as having "anxiety issues" or blaming his ADHD. The doctor basically told him that she didn't think he was injured and that physical therapy would fix him when he literally explained several times that physical activity makes it severely worse! There is visible differences in the area that she just said, "so you went from normal to normal" I'm sorry but if a gentleman is having issues with his private area he would know what feels normal and what doesn't after 38 years of living with it. We drove 2.5 hours to be treated like we were crazy and be no closer to finding a solution other than taking a stab in the dark at something she just guessed was the problem. Then proceeded to inform me (his wife who has desperately been trying to help him get answers for a year) that I should have brought all of the notes from previous doctors with us. If this was not provided by the referring doctor I should have been made aware so i could have taken the time to call the list of doctors that we have provided to every doctor prior.
