I know it's hard to get help in this state. But do not waste your time here. Find another Dermatologist or find a surgeon. I have been waiting for over a year to have a procedure done. First Dermatologist canceled last second. I was referred here. Met the Dermatologist, she looked it over, said she'd take care of it. Sends me to get an ultrasound done. Took them almost a month to even get that sent over for some reason. Has me wait 3+ months for an appointment I had to schedule my life around just to call 3 hours before my procedure and cancel for some reason that was not made clear at all. Lady on the phone claimed she had just then finally looked at the ultrasound and claimed she couldn't do it. Even though I already had a general surgeon look at it and let me know there is no reason a Dermatologist could not take care of it. The lady on the phone also claimed she was sending in a referral to some general surgeon but had no idea where he was located. Odd, if you're actually sending a referral, you know the information.... Of course, I have not heard anything since. Thankfully, I have some people in my corner who got a referral sent to a surgeon same day after what this office did to me, and were also able to give me that office's contact information. If you do go here. I wish you the best and hope your experience is not like mine.
I have had nothing but good things since I switched over to River City Dermatology. She has done so much for me in this short time that I have been seeing her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER. I felt like my other dermatologist was scared to get close to me to even look at things.
New patient here! I am so incredibly grateful for Beth at River City Dermatology. She is a life saver. I suffer with awful plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. She listens to me and is incredibly empathetic and immediately got me started on meds to get relief. Coming here was the best decision I’ve ever made!
I was tempted not to write this because I won’t be returning here and figured it wouldn’t matter. But after thinking about it for weeks I feel it’s important to share what happened. Scheduling alone was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a medical office. They simply do not answer their phone, and I tried several times on multiple days. Even when I had a missed call from them a few days ago, I returned the call twice, left a voicemail, and still got no response. I’m 30 and relatively tech savvy and even I had trouble with their online system. I had to message chat someone named Gretchen just to figure out how to schedule and it took multiple days of going back and forth, trying to figure out the issue. I almost gave up right then and asked my doctor for a referral elsewhere. From the beginning, I clearly told both my doctor and the clinic that one of the main concerns I wanted addressed was a recurring spot on my nose. But when I arrived (after driving over an hour), they refused to look at it because it wasn’t written on the referral and so they couldn’t address it "for insurance reasons." They said I’d have to reschedule and come back with an updated referral. I didn’t argue and just said okay and left. When I followed up with my doctor later, she was surprised. She told me they easily could have checked those additional spots while I was there and just updated the referral afterward if needed. That was when I realized this office may be unusually rigid. I later read online that most dermatology offices don’t operate like this. I went ahead and made a second appointment (still wouldn't answer their phone). I had my doctor include "full body check" in the new referral to be sure there were no excuses this time. At that second appointment, I showed up a little early, but wasn’t seen for OVER AN HOUR past my scheduled time, with no explanation or apology. I had my 2 year old with me (who was doing a great job sitting in my lap quietly!), but anyone with kids knows how stressful that can be as a parent. I watched people who came in after me get called back first. Eventually I asked Gretchen at the desk what was going on, and she simply said they were "a little behind." I ended up waiting a total of 80 minutes before being taken back. As a side note...while I waited, Gretchen had her window open and was loudly talking on the phone to another patient and mentioning her name, phone number, and scheduling issues in a way that everyone in the waiting room could hear. The way she spoke was slow, rude and condescending (like 100% fake nice mean girl vibes) and it made me feel like the office lacked basic professionalism and patient privacy standards. Once in the room, it was another 15 minutes before the full body check started. To which it lasted about 5 minutes and was done. She completely missed the issue on my nose, which was the entire reason I made a second appointment, along with a wart on my foot and another itchy mole on my back. I had to point every single one out myself after she had already finished and taken off her gloves. For my nose she used a comedone extractor and needle and said it was just keratin buildup and then proceeded to aggressively squeeze and poke it (saying it was a tough bugger) and then ended up shaving the remaining off with a razor! Like don't you think i could of done that at home and probably tried (i did once and it came right back)? After researching more once i got home I found out that milia (which is what Beth said it was) shouldn’t be squeezed or picked at that way because it can worsen the issue or cause scarring. I went here for alternate methods other than the basic DIY shave it off with a razor method. The office itself looks clean and modern, and Beth had a nice personality and made me feel comfortable, but that's where the positives end. Other than that, I left feeling dismissed and frustrated. I gain nothing from writing this review other than hoping it helps someone else avoid a similar experience. I’ve gotten a new referral to somewhere else
I am so impressed with the care that Beth gives her patients. I had a full body skin check done here and was sort of dreading it, but Beth put me at ease with the whole process--very thorough and yet I never felt embarrassed or exposed. Very good communication and answers to all my questions. She knows her stuff! Later I brought my daughter for a skin procedure, again a little nervous because she has some sensory issues and anxiety, but Beth related to her beautifully, talked her through, explained everything and even got her to smile at the end. Her staff is super nice too. Highly recommend!
Wonderful to have this practice in Ada. I saw Beth, Shannon and Gretchen today. Beth and Shannon put me at ease right away and took care of a few skin issues. Relaxed atmosphere, nice people. Got in for an appointment quickly. Glad to have them looking after me!
I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care I have received at River City Dermatology. After years of struggling with debilitating fatigue and acne that I attributed to other health conditions and medications, my dermatologist here became the detective I desperately needed. What sets this practice apart is their thoroughness and genuine commitment to getting to the root of problems rather than just treating surface symptoms. Beth took the time to really listen to my concerns and conducted a comprehensive evaluation that other specialists (career MD dermatologists) had overlooked. Her expertise and attention to detail uncovered an underlying dermatological condition that was the true culprit behind my chronic exhaustion. For years, I had resigned myself to living with constant fatigue, believing it was simply a side effect I had to accept. The relief of finally having answers - and more importantly, a path forward for treatment - has been absolutely transformative. I'm getting my energy back, my quality of life has improved dramatically, and I feel like myself again. The entire team at River City Dermatology demonstrates exceptional professionalism, compassion, and clinical excellence. They don't just treat conditions; they change lives. If you're dealing with any dermatological concerns, especially complex or persistent issues, I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. This is what healthcare should look like - thorough, thoughtful, and truly life-changing. Thank you, River City Dermatology, for giving me my life back.
