Modern Dentistry of Troy - Dr. Raffi S. Belian, DDS

My mom said that the doctor at Modern Dentistry is excellent at fixing teeth and that it wouldn't hurt, so I decided to check it out.  And indeed, it didn't hurt. Thank you very much! I recommend this wonderful dental clinic to all adults and children.

Modern Dentistry is a practice to love! The office is beautiful and high-tech. The entire team is welcoming, professional, and kind-hearted. My hygienist,Sarah,is thoughtful and considerate. She is meticulous and will go far and beyond to save a smile. Dr Belian is also amazing. He's a graduate of the top-ranked dental school. He is experienced, highly skilled, and an all-around humble, nice guy with a quirky sense of humor. I believe he is a perfectionist who will make your smile wonderful and unique -just for you! I am grateful to the entire team. I highly recommend!

10/10 experience! The office is beautiful and new, the office staff was very friendly, and my hygienist Susan was so kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. Lastly, I met with the doctor who provided a final thorough check and took the time to speak with me and answer my questions. Truly a remarkable experience!

If you want the quick of it- Modern dentistry is the place you should go if you want to receive superlative dental care. Longer version: I’m 57 years old, a physical therapist and have worked in healthcare for over 30 years. In the past 45 years, I cannot say I have had a positive experience related to a dental visit until now. To contrast my experiences in those 45 years with approximately 5–6 dental offices - I have been met with arrogance (my way or the highway, intimidation, browbeating) or aloof, "smile and a haircut" lacking skill, attention to detail, resulting in haphazard flawed dental work. My experience at Modern Dentistry was totally the opposite. This practice combines both a caring, empathetic human element, along with excellent superlative dental skill, technique, and a modest listening attitude in ascertaining patient needs and concerns. My need was an "emergency" dental repair of a filling that had dislodged. The practice was quick to get me scheduled At arrival, the cleanliness, smell, and atmosphere of the office was extremely reassuring and positive. Selma greeted me with a warm smile at reception, my wait was barely 2 minutes, I was ushered back and unbeknownst to me -In passing -the doctor that would be taken care of my teeth, warmly greeted me patted me on the back with a hospitable, genuine smile. After a workup was conducted and x-rays taken, I formally met Dr. Raffi, who was so kind genuine and thoroughly explained his assessment of my tooth situation and gave his recommendation -While I am convinced that his recommendation was optimal, I was hoping and wanting my tooth situation to be addressed in a different manner. This was the game changer: Dr. Raffi humbly listened to my rationale, and without any irritation, eye rolling, huffing or shaking his head (which had been typical of my previous dental appointment experiences before coming to this practice) he kindly said "I completely understand. I’d be happy to do exactly as you said." In addition to my immediate concern regarding my damage tooth, Dr. Raffi was thorough and spotted another "hidden issue" that could have become more serious and offered to address and rectify. In the procedure he was accompanied with his colleague Dr.Shri-both were extremely competent and friendly through the whole procedure. What especially impress me is that when you get a plastic filling, it requires acid etching… in my research -it was revealed that acid etching should be performed, literally in a matter of 2–3 seconds with immediate neutralization-when I heard Dr. Raffi explained to his colleague "we were only going to acid edge around the enamel" and to my joy he precisely did just so neutralizing almost immediately -and then finishing up the procedure in a masterful way. (The reason I bring this up is that most other doctors put the acid down, don’t pay attention, talk at nauseam about their golf game, etc. don’t completely neutralize it …I’m the one that ends up suffering with extreme sensitivity that I cannot bite down on that affected side for six months to a year-Why? because the acid etching is still active, causing irritation under the filling) I am pleased to say I had absolutely NO sensitivity, NO irritation, and was chewing on that side that evening and into the next day without any problems. The reason I give such detail as again, some people exalt form over substance, I would rather a dentist with extreme skill and lacking bedside manner, but Dr. Raffi is one of the warmest, kindest, genuine, hospitable person I’ve ever met with skill, precision and confidence.-needless to say, the experience was phenomenal. In this world of declining values, competence, caring, empathy… in the medical profession …Modern dentistry stands out as a gem. So, duh, I recommend highly making this practice your practice. Dr. Belian and Dr. Gale are without question the best dentists in the area. They take pride in their work and there's nobody I trust more when it comes to keeping my teeth healthy. Trouble with teeth is the worst, and having people you trust to give you honest information and (when needed) do the best work possible has been hugely important to me. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else, would 100% recommend.

Got me in as a new patient with an emergency the next day ( I called on a Holiday). Dr Gayle is the most kind individual imaginable. Just above and beyond in all aspects. So thankful to have found this practice!

Been going to Modern Dentistry for around 20 years. Dr. Belian and his staff are amazing and I refer everyone I know to come here. He truly cares for his patients, is very personable and makes you feel at home. Not to mention the immaculate dental work you receive as well. Highly recommend!
