Saturday morning, I woke up with a dental emergency. Western Dental was one of the few places open on the weekend. After calling their 800 number, I was able to get a same day appointment. About 30 minutes later, I got a call from the local office saying that, because it's the weekend, they cannot verify my insurance. I assured them that I had adequate (PPO) coverage. That was met with a, "sorry, but no." I informed them I found them through my employers portal and was sure my insurance wouldn't be a problem. That was met with a, "sorry, but no." I reminded them that the reason for my urgent visit was due to a dental emergency. That was met with a, "sorry, there's nothing we can do." (Fun fact: Out of curiosity, I called Cigna as if I was a "provider" verifying a patients insurance and got through to someone. So I'm guessing Western Dental just assumed Cigna was closed on the weekend as opposed to actually trying.) Anyway, I then reached out to Zen Dental, less than half a mile south of Western Dental. Though they're closed on the weekend, I was able to get ahold of Dr. Mira through the emergency line. Even though I was not (yet) an established patient, Zen Dental was able to calm my fears and discomfort and promised to squeeze me in Monday. They even followed up on Sunday to confirm the appointment and send me all the forms/paperwork to fill out ahead of time. Not only did they handle my emergency, but once they found out I was looking to establish care, they were able to shift things around and offered me a routine exam and cleaning - killing two birds with one stone. I was a bit apprehensive about visiting a dentist during a pandemic, but the office was more than clean, the staff was friendly, and the service was great. I walked in and immediately had a temperature check and was able to wash my hands in the lobby. In the back, the equipment was clean, sterile, and organized. And while I was getting my cleaning done, they had a HEPA filter close to my face. Albeit a bit loud, I appreciate the extra lengths they go to keep both the patient and the staff healthy. While this all goes to show how they were able to modify existing processes to adapt to current events, what shouldn't be forgotten is the comforting, tranquility in each room with massage chairs in the lobby, TVs mounted to the ceiling in each room, and the amount of time the doctor and her staff spend with you, talking with you as a human, as opposed to a profitable butt in a chair. With that said, if you want to line the pockets of corporate greed, visit Western Dental. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and support a local, friendly, and knowledgeable practice.
Let me start by saying this is hands-down the worst experience I’ve had at a dental office . Here’s the background: I went in for a deep cleaning. Towards the end of my service, the glass tip of the laser broke off in my mouth and the hygienist didn’t know if it was between my gums or not. She said she thought she got it all but to wait for a minute while she went out I guess to ask for advice. When she returned, she told me that if I felt anything strange to come back in. I thought to myself," WHAT?" I asked, "Wouldn’t glass show up on an x-ray. Why don’t you take an x-ray??" Again. She went out to consult with someone either on the phone or in the office. Upon her return, she said yes, we can take an x-ray. Following the x-ray, she moved me out of the exam room and then had the administrative staff show me the x-ray. Totally unprofessional. Additionally, there was never any follow up from the dentist. Suffice to say I will never go back to this dentist nor would I recommend the business to anyone given their lack of professionalism in dealing with hazards in your face.
My husband and I have been long time patients, but have become increasingly unhappy over the last few years. They seem very focused on the upsell and will try to pressure you into all kinds of cosmetic things. My husband went in and was told he needed a root canal. It was urgent and needed to be referred to an oral surgeon. They were also going to charge $450 for a temporary crown and even more for a permanent one. With everything, we were looking at $2000-$2500 after insurance. I told my husband he should get a second opinion because of our recent experiences. He did. No root canal needed. Just a deep clean and a replacement filling. We won’t be coming back.
So far this is the best dental office I have been to. It had been about two years since I had any dental work done. I called the office and left a message letting them know I had some needed work done. They returned my call that same morning and scheduled me that same day. The Dental tech took x-rays and did a fabulous job on cleaning my teeth ( she took her time and was gentle). I had some areas that were a bit sensitive, so I was a bit nervous. She did such a great job and was super careful that I didn’t feel any discomfort. Dr. Mira has always been super caring and takes her time with me. I always leave feeling well cared for. The whole staff is friendly from when first check in to when you check out. Also their office always looks clean and the decor is super modern. I highly recommend this office to my friends and family.
Zen Dental and it's staff is absolutely incredible! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful. I cannot even count the times I have called with an issue, and they were able to fit me in right away. Dr. Mira is great and such a fun person to see. No matter what, Dr. Mira and her staff are always looking for ways to help with dental needs. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would!
Dr. Mira and her team are incredible. I've always had a lot of anxiety going to the dentist but over the past three years they have made going to the dentist something I enjoy and take pride in. Their updated office is so clean and gorgeous. The Tv's playing relaxing videos while they work on you is a fun touch, but the heart of Zen Dental, is the staff. Dr Mira is such a kind woman and an amazing doctor. Amelia is a welcoming face and Tracy does such a great job during dental cleanings. When I go its like being welcomed by friends and people that genuinely care about my health. I recommend Zen Dental Care for anyone who is looking for above and beyond dental care.
I am very satisfied with the care I received at Zen Dental Care! The receptionist, Amelia, was so friendly and helpful, my Dentist, Maribel and Amy the Dental Hygienist were so informative and wonderful! My cleaning was surprisingly gentle, like a massage. Very Zen-like! I've already recommended Zen Dental Care to a co-worker. I'm actually excited to go back. Due to COVID-19, The establishment is very clean/sanitary and organized. I am grateful for dentists/hygienists and wonderful staff that choose to work to serve those of us who ( desperately) need oral care. Thank you so much!!!
