Crescent Dental & Orthodontics San Marcos

I am writing to formally complain about the service I received at Crescent Dental in San Marcos on 01/23/2026. Upon my arrival for my first appointment, the front desk staff requested a payment of $1,800. I was confused, as this was my initial visit. The staff member eventually realized she had made a patient identification error, explaining that there were three patients with the name "Janet" and she had been confused. Later, I felt offended when a staff member assumed I needed a Spanish-speaking provider based on my Hispanic surname. I was simply trying to clarify that my last name was "Medina" to avoid further confusion after the initial mistake at the front desk. During my visit, I had X-rays taken, which was a painful experience. The technician hurt my palate while trying to position the equipment, even though I was trying to comply by opening my mouth as wide as I could. This is not my first time having dental X-rays. After the X-rays, I waited 40 minutes to see the hygienist. She was unable to perform a cleaning due to the presence of sores in my mouth, which she said was a safety concern. I accepted this decision. Following this, I waited another 15 minutes to see the dentist. He was helpful and answered all of my questions. I requested laser treatment for the cold sores and was willing to pay for this out-of-pocket. I was then told to wait for the laser treatment. After waiting for an additional hour, the hygienist informed me that the laser was currently in use and I would need to wait longer. In total, I spent two hours at the facility and received no treatment at all—no dental cleaning and no laser treatment for my cold sores. I found the staff seemed unfamiliar with how to process insurance, and the X-ray procedure was painful. The only positive part of my visit was the consultation with the dentist. I have decided not to return to this dental practice and request not to be contacted to schedule any future appointments.

The staff was amazing at the office, very informative, and took the time to explain everything. They made sure to make the whole experience smooth, and engaging explaining any issues they found during the exam, and give feedback on preventative measures to take without making me feel guilty that I hadn’t been doing these things before. The dental hygienist was so personable, and genuine in her conversations, making sure I was comfortable. She took her time and was very gentle when cleaning my teeth. Some hygienist are rough, and make you feel guilty if you haven’t been doing routine flossing, or if you don’t brush correctly, she was very understandable and gave positive feedback. I would rank them probably one of the top dental practices I have ever been to! If you are looking for a new dental office I highly recommend them.

Everyone here was so sweet and kind! I was very nervous to get my tooth pulled but the Dr. Was great, fast and made me feel very comfortable. George was great, he checked up on me multiple times and made sure I was comfortable. He really calmed my nerves by assuring me that everything would be quick and easy and he was right!

I love my dentist and hygienist so much I made a 72 Mi round trip to go to San Marcos. I previously had been in Seguin and then transferred to San marcos. Both are well worth the drive! Thank you Dr. Will (Pharell) and my badass hygienist Miss Rory. I recently had a crown procedure and I'm so sorry I can't remember the name of the wonderful dental assistant that worked with Dr will. Robbie at the front counter is just remarkable! Disneyland for your mouth:-) highly recommend! Dr. Pharell, AKA Dr. Will DDS and his trusty assistant Miss Abby fitted my crown and fixed a chipped tooth January 2nd 2026. Just as before, everything in the office runs smooth as silk. Thank you Rockie Robbie and all the wonderful gals at the front desk! As always worth the round trip!

Nothing but positive experiences so far! Everyone at Crescent is friendly and Aurora always does a great job and explains everything so clearly. As someone who gets very anxious in medical spaces, I always feel super comfortable at my appointments! 🙂

My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 a.m., and I received a cancellation call only 15 minutes prior—while I was already on my way to the office. I was told the appointment had to be canceled due to overbooking and because my insurance information had not been submitted in advance. Canceling an appointment at the last minute for administrative and scheduling failures entirely within the provider’s control is unacceptable. This was, without exaggeration, the worst service I have ever experienced. Please do not book if you’re looking for a quality experience!

Got charged $170 for the Dentist to come in the exam room, look at my issue for ~ 5 minutes and say "this is not in my wheelhouse", and we were done ... I also noticed that they reply to 5 star reviews, but don't address 1 or 2 star reviews.
