Spencer Dental & Braces

The oral surgeon that seen my daughter that he did not do her surgery was very nasty to my daughter and myself. He didn't even want to see her because he didn't do her surgery. My daughter is special needs and he opened her mouth so wide it cracked the corners of her mouth. Mind you she has just had all 4 wisdom teeth cut out on Monday the same week. Just to much disrespectfully rude and nasty. Arguing in the hall way and said tell the mom to take her back to who did her surgery. Well I did end up doing that because my left in more pain then she came in with.i will never go back to that location. Now the Holland road location i can not express my gratitude to these women and men that work in this office. Even though my daughter is special needs they take wonderful care of her and engage and hug and make her feel so comfortable. Went and explained what happen and was able to see the dentist also got on the phone to get her some medication and just an awesome atmosphere. She is not scared of the people that work there. Very unprofessional. We were told when we made the appointment that same day treatment would be completed. We arrived 15 minutes before her appointment to fill out the paperwork and give the insurance information. All that was taken care over. Waited for about a hour the receptionist called us up and informed us to called our insurance company because they could not verify it. Ok I called the insurance company and talked to them,but when I walked back inside to the receptionist to get a fax number, she was already in the phone with my insurance company. (Why wasn’t that done earlier) the insurance got squared away, she informed us that they will be calling us back shortly. Almost another hours goes by, the assistant comes out and calls us back and another patient back at the same time. We were seated in a room. The assistant comes back later and ask us what our concerns are for this appointment. I informed her that my daughter’s dentist said she has a cavity. She took the x-ray, we waited again. Finally the Doctor comes in and same thing ask what’s your concern, again we told him she has a cavity and it needs to be filled. He then proceeds to leave the room. We waited again it’s going on over 2 hours since we arrived at this office. The assistant comes in and asked us if the Dr had come in and what did he say. We informed her and then she looked down at the paper and said something ok yeah ok. Then she turned around and said ok you will have to come back and get scheduled for that. I told my daughter to get out of the chair we are done. I’m done we are leaving and not coming back. My husband informed the assistant that it is very hard for us to get off of work and the treatment was suppose to be completed today. He was dismissed by her. I run a dental office. If my staff member or my a provider in my office treated patients as such they would no longer be employed. Lack of professionalism, lack of communication, lack of everything. During all of this not one person reviewed my child’s medical chart with us, they did not confirm anything. Will not be coming back. I will also file a complaint again the practice as well as the provider.

This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. Highly do not recommend and will be finding a cleaner more sanitary dentist. 1. The person who took me back was rushing and then simply just left me in an exam room without saying who was gonna see me or how long it would be. 2. When they came back and asked me a few questions, they left the door open so the person in the room across could clearly hear what was going on. 3. There was a dirty used needle on the floor 4. Mold on the ceiling. 5. And the exam chairs arms were so rusted out I’m afraid to get tetanus from it. 6. I was informed and double checked that they would be fixing the filling during this appointment. That was a lie. Doctor looked at it and said we will schedule you to come back. Only thing it isn’t until March and this happened in December. But my first appointment they cancelled the day before with a last minute email. So here I waited a month to be seen and now 2 more till they fix it. So much for a same day fix that my partner had to take off early from work to get me to it only to be there for maybe 20 minutes!

I am very happy with Spencer Dental. I needed a tooth pulled. They are providers for my dental coverage. I stopped by to speak with them about my dental needs. They checked my insurance, made me an appointment, and Dr Boice was excellent. No problems. I highly recommend this office. I went to the office on Victory Blvd in Portsmouth, VA.

We started with Spencer Dental when my teenage son with braces needed a dental well visit and our former pediatric dentist refused to provide service to him since he got his braces on (kid has no cavities, good hygiene habits, so I am assuming it's because his braces made the dental check-up more time consuming). Anyways, very pleased with Spencer Dental! Very nice and professional staff!!! Now all my children go here. In fact two more teenagers have started not just dental well visits, but just began ortho treatment with Spencer Dental. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely amazing gentle nurse the doctor was amazing and environment was clean front desk ladies were respectful my son absolutely enjoyed his visit.

My experience was Great! The Dentist was very gentle with my extractions. The Assistant Shawn was very friendly and caring. The front desk Yolanda was also awesome. Thanks again to the Portsmouth crew...best dental experience that I can recall!
