Customer Reviews
Ohana Dental has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 102 reviews on Google
Haven’t seen the dentist in a very long time so I was a little nervous. Walking in, the front desk were very friendly, and the office was very clean. Dr. Kang did my exam and explained to me the specific treatment and cleaning I needed. Hrag who is the dental hygienist, did an amazing job cleaning my teeth. He explained to me in detail and answered all of my questions. He was also gentle and patient with me since I was nervous about dental treatment. Overall I had a great experience and would recommend Ohana Dental to everyone because of how patient and knowledgeable the staff is.
Dr. Kang and his staff are amazing! He is trustworthy and genuinely personable. He treats you like part of his family ("ohana"). He went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed quickly. His skill and attention to detail are unmatched. On top of that, his communication, empathy, and patient-first approach make every visit stress-free. Truly a professional with integrity—highly recommend! 🦷✨
My wife and I began going to Ohana Dental a few years ago when we lived in Orange County, and the long drives have been worth it! We are very appreciative of Dr. Kang and the team. We’ve received a variety of treatments, including long-overdue deep cleanings for me and whitening before our wedding. Recently, we’ve been most grateful for Dr. Kang for taking care of my wife’s broken crown situation through her pregnancy. Dr. Kang and his team always take the time to answer our questions and explain the what and why behind the procedures, and I appreciate how they provide the larger, long-term perspective for our health. Thank you Ohana Dental!
I recently moved to Pasadena and was looking for a new dentist when I noticed this office while grabbing coffee at Little Flower next door. I had my first cleaning a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. The facility is clean, modern, and state-of-the-art. After my X-rays, I met with Dr. Kang, who walked me through everything clearly and made thoughtful recommendations without pushing unnecessary procedures or anything that felt like a money grab. He confirmed what previous dentists have told me—that I’ll eventually want to consider wisdom tooth removal—so nothing felt surprising or sales-driven. The real standout, though, was my hygienist, Hrag. It had been about 10 months since my last cleaning, and despite a fair amount of tartar, I didn’t feel a thing. He was easily the best hygienist I’ve ever had. He explained what he was doing just enough, didn’t try to hold a conversation while my mouth was full of tools, and even let me control the suction—something every dental office should adopt. Highly recommend this dental office.
I’ll start with the positives. Ohana Dental is a clean, well mannered, professional and pleasant operation. Unfortunately after several years of treatment I unfortunately feel my teeth are in worse health than when I originally came in. For the record I’m a cash customer and have spent upwards $6,000 at Ohana for various treatments. A root canal, two crowns, several fillings on front teeth. The core of the issue is this place practices line dentistry and there is very little quality control. Of the two temp crowns both have crumbled apart in my mouth within 24 hours. Of the permanent crowns both have fallen out of my mouth due to not using strong enough adhesive or just generally a bad fit. That alone is 4 additional appointments to repair in addition to several appointments needed for each treatment. Each of the fillings behind my front teeth have gaps in the fillings. Anytime you bring these concerns up to the doctor he pedantically listens, tells you are just "feeling things" and doesn’t address them at all. Doc is a nice chatty guy, but I want to be heard and I want my work done right, not just be offered lip service of why I’m mistaken for feeling this way. Not to mention they are very aggressive in getting you on a regiment of cleanings every 3 months and make you feel like a slop if you prefer 6 months. I’m only writing this because the new crown I paid nearly $2k fell out 6 months ago and now my original tooth is damaged and I’m headed to a new dentistry office to pay to fix it again. I just wish dentistry offices had genuine concern for our dental health rather than just being a sales machine.
I really wanted to like Ohana Dental, but after multiple visits, I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, my appointments have consistently felt rushed and less thorough than what I’ve experienced at other dental practices. With Dr. Kang, the exams have often been very brief—sometimes just a quick look and a short blast of air before the appointment wraps up. Cleanings with the hygienist, Hrag, have also felt hurried; once, I even had to ask for my teeth to be polished again because the first pass was so fast. On another visit, there was no willingness to take the time to floss around my lingual bar and instead he skipped those teeth all together. I had to ask for him to take the time to thread the floss under the lingual bar. Even the front desk staff often seem stressed or unhappy, which adds to an overall lack of warmth in the environment. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews for healthcare providers, but I’ve never had dental care that felt this rushed. I hope sharing my experience helps others decide whether this practice is the right fit for them.
My go to dentist!! Their office is really clean and staff are super friendly! I first came here to get a second opinion and I am so glad I did. They saved me much headache and a lot of money by giving me other treatment options. This is my primary dentist now and I highly recommend to anyone!!
