Gentle Dental Palo Alto

Clean friendly office. I had to bring my 86 year old mother for her pre-op appointment. I was very impressed with their kindness and patience. They came up with a plan that will hopefully make the surgery easier. They inquired about past medical history in order to know how to proceed. They car and attention was very nice.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr Qazi, who recently treated my teenage daughter. She was kind, sensitive and took whatever extra time my daughter needed during the treatment. She explained what she was doing and why, the entire way through. Both my daughter (and myself as a parent) felt well cared for and respected. I have two younger kids too and am glad that Gentle Dental is our family dentist.

Loved my dentist, super sweet guy! No complaints about the doctors. I got a bone to pick with the front desk person. After my ortho care, I was told my retainers would be $250 for a set. Then later told no, it’s $250 for the top OR bottom and the SET would be $500. I delayed getting new retainers after losing mine because of the price and when I finally could afford it, I was told once again it would be $500 for the complete set of one top and one bottom. Yet when I picked up the new retainers, I got TWO FULL SETS! I requested my receipt for insurance reasons, after reviewing it saw they did indeed charge me for two complete sets but told me it would be one set. Felt like they pulled a fast one over me to get me to pay double. Otherwise I don’t know why I was told I had to pay double the price for a single set, then given two complete sets. So please, ask for an itemized quote breaking down the prices before paying. The dentists and orthodontists are GREAT! Front desk will give you the run around.

No sense of keeping things on time. I arrived at 2:50 for a 3:00 appointment and had to wait for over 40 min. Their xray process is unnecessarily uncomfortable as the person insert hard objects into my mouth. After the cray I had to wait another 30 min?!? This is incredibly inefficient. Clearly the clinic has no respect for patients time. Also I am not even sure the xray staff they put into my mouth is sanitized.

The doctor and nurse at this office were excellent—professional, attentive, and made me feel well cared for during my visits. I really appreciated the clinical care. That said, I experienced significant frustration with the billing and communication process. After rescheduling my third deep cleaning visit, I was suddenly told that my first visit payment hadn’t gone through, even though I had proof of payment. I was then told the issue was with insurance paying less than expected—but when I reviewed my claim, I saw that my actual responsibility was less than what I had paid. This raised concerns that I may have been overcharged. At the time, my calls to the office went unanswered. I was only able to get through when calling from a different number, which felt evasive and unprofessional. Update: After posting this review, the dental office reached out and explained the expenses in more detail. I appreciate them taking the time to follow up and clarify the billing. I’ve updated this review to 4 stars, since I really do like the service here and the clinical care is truly excellent. I hope communication and transparency will continue to improve going forward.

This is a very nice dentist and staff. Honestly like the name, the very thorough cleaning by the Dr. did not hurt at all. Also the ac tools are very nice and current. I fully recommend this place for dental health.
