Family Dentistry

Beware Racism exists at this dental office. He provided no legitimate reason to deny me service on my first visit. He simply looked at me and said, "I don't feel good about you as a customer, we won't be seeing you today". This is after I scheduled an appointment last week and he had access to all my dental information and insurance information available to him. It wasn't until I walked into the office did he cancel after he looked at me.

stuck up people will never get any sympathy im so glad i read these other reviews that are 1 star and seeing the owners have a back and forth style demeanor addressing the customer’s concerns really explains it all. I called with a potential dental emergency my tooth has been hurting for a couple days and i was calling to get information to understand the severity of my situation. Off the bat when im giving the asian accent man on the phone (i never caught his name) my information he starts complaining how i cant really expect a reasonable soon appointment to be seen, he said how im the one who decided to wait last minute to try and book an appointment. Who the hell says that ? Probably someone who is miserable, anywho going forward he then starts kind of like belittling stating how it is odd that i havent seen a dentist since a while. Clearly he can see my information and hes reading it back to me in a tone as if he is my father and i should know better. Again who the hell does that ? Moving again , another gentleman enters the room to ask something brief but then they have a bit of a laugh and small talk. One more time he feels the need to remind me that what im requesting to be seen asap or earliest appointment is most likely not going to happen due to my poor last minute decision skills. In the end we start talking about potential upcoming bookings and i tell him id like to see if what i wanted to do which was a consultation to figure out what is causing my pain (very basic dentist appointment) if there is going to be a co pay or if my insurance covered it. THIS MAN TELLS ME NO I DONT HAVE THE TIME TO GO OVER THIS INFORMATION. I was confused and asked why since this it such a normal practice to inform patients what they can expect before their visit. his response literally "i have many tasks to do and i dont have time to give you this information" . pretty weird answer seemed like there was something he was hiding idk. when i finished and said that this was a big waste of time i was told "thats fine you can find another dentist who will work with you". nice so you had the time to critique and go back n forth with me on my decision on when to book an appointment in the year , you had the time to chit chat with another dude that walked in during the phone call , you literally had the information open to tell me when the last time i visited a dentist but refused to tell me my options of payments on potentially visiting. I think the saddest part of this review is that i didnt even make it into the facility to experience the pure unprofessionalism i just had to have a 10 minute conversation over the phone. Condescending , super rude , and entitled.

First I would like to tank the amazing Team at Oceanside Family Dentistry, for helping Smile again and again. First visit was over a year ago over a broken Tooth and very traumatic experience from a Trip, they fix me up and placed me on a path for a better and healthier Smile. My most recent visit again a chip tooth and routine maintenance clean up. I am so great full for all the attention to Detail, Quality of Craftsmanship and Honest care I received. Excellent Dentist. I'm 71 and have been to many over the years and I consider her the best. Dr.Phan is very precise and gentle. Both her and her husband John make a great team.

Doctor Phan and her husband John are an awesome team, professional, caring and understanding. Dr. Phan is very thorough ( USC Grad), Oceanside Family Dentistry took care of me where another dentist failed, thank you!

Came in for my two kids and myself for teeth cleaning. Dr Phan is super intelligent and attentive. The office is conveniently located off Old Grove. My kids felt super comfortable with her and they are usually scared of the dentist, but Dr. Phan made them feel safe and relaxed. Awesome place!!

It has taken me a while to write this review and part of the reason I did not was because I needed to ensure a few things before I gave my honest review. I saw Dr. Phan in October 2021. I was not happy with her professionalism. She puts her business hat on before she puts her Doctor hat on. Tries to upsell you on everything, from laser, to braces and everything you share as a concern, she has a solution, which she apparently does herself in the same location. Nevertheless, I got the cleaning I went there for and everything else she told me, I went to another dentist to get a second opinion. This is where I base my review on, she's strictly business and is not concerned on providing the care you need based on your real needs. What bothers me the most is that I shared with her that my gums are very sensitive which she then proceeded to sell me a mouthwash which she claimed would fix my issues. I paid the $35 cash she asked for. Fast forward to 6 months later, I went to another dentist to get a cleaning and expressed the same gum concerns and this dentist wrote me a prescription which I was able to pick up at the local pharmacy. To my dismay, it was the SAME mouthwash she sold me AND it happened to get fully covered by insurance. Why Dr. Phan chose to sell me on something that my insurance easily covered is not something I can comprehend. I don't trust her and don't recommend her.
