I’m extremely pleased with the care I received at this dental clinic. The staff is polite, efficient, and very accommodating. The dentist was knowledgeable and made sure I understood every step of the treatment. The environment is clean and comfortable. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend this clinic for reliable dental care.

Extremely disappointing experience — I do not recommend this clinic. My family has had ongoing issues with the referral and scheduling process at the University of Minnesota dental/oral surgery clinic. My mother-in-law’s dental clinic sent a referral multiple times (at least 3–4), yet we were repeatedly told it was never received. When we asked staff to simply check whether the referral had arrived or to confirm how it should be sent, we were told that we were "asking for too much," or to submit the referral online, which was very concerning. By the time we were finally seen for an initial consultation, it was approximately 3–4 months after the referral was first sent. We then had to attend multiple consultation appointments over and over again, to the point that it became difficult to keep track of what are the next steps. Scheduling oral surgery was another major issue. The phone system frequently malfunctioned, repeating options and preventing us from completing the scheduling process. When we raised this issue with the scheduling team, we were told there was nothing they could do. Despite leaving multiple voicemails for the oral surgery team, we never received a return call. Overall, the lack of communication, long delays, and dismissive responses made us feel like our time and concerns were not valued. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise others to consider alternative dental clinics. We will be looking for care somewhere else.

I had an appointment scheduled for my son and due to a family emergency, I wasn’t able to make it. I called 48 hours advanced notice and was unable to get in touch with someone to reschedule. I was given a call two hours prior to my son‘s appointment for confirmation. I asked if I could reschedule and I was told flat out no. Horrible customer service and a nasty attitude. I would not recommend.

Students here are very nice & they do their job very well. I walked in hoping i would be seen & worked on without having to make an appointment fortunately that happened. I was in & out within two hours. Wait time is not very long at all.

The billing system at the University of Minnesota Dental Clinic is unreasonable and frustrating. Their policy requires full prepayment before treatment, which I can accept, but the front desk could not figure out the correct amount. They first tried to charge me $2,500, admitted confusion, and then recalculated to $1,984, which I paid. Later, the dentist confirmed that the nearly $2,000 in prepaid procedures were not needed and told the staff I should get a refund. However, the billing office, especially Sharon, refused. She said she could not refund until the insurance EOB came out and claimed it would take one to three months just to review three very simple items. This shows a lack of proper training. Instead of resolving the issue, she started commenting on my treatment plan, which is outside her professional scope and felt very disrespectful. This experience shows a system full of confusion and mistakes at the front desk, combined with arrogance and lack of accountability in the billing office. Patients are treated as if we know nothing, while they hold all the power to decide when or if we ever get our money back! It is unacceptable for them to refuse to issue a timely refund. Their billing practice is confusing, unprofessional, and deeply unfair!

I had nightmare experience at the University of Minnesota Dental Clinic and I am forever impacted. If you want healthy teeth and good dental work, please avoid the University of Minnesota Dental Clinic. I cannot say enough that Universoty of Minnesota Dental Clinic should be avoided. Elvis is the student that worked with me. In my opinion, he is horrifc at what he does, and he should not be allowed to be a dentist. Elvis was supervised by Dr. Peterson. In my opinion Dr. Peterson is as bad as Elvis, perhap even worse. She is incompetent and reckless.

I have received the very best dental care here. From the quality crowns to cleaning their work is closely monitored. In addition, I have saved a ton of money on crowns! I do not mind that it may take longer as I am retired. And I am happy to help them hone their craft.
